Full Job Description
Position Summary

As an Electrical Engineer at Mashgin, you will be a primary driver of our hardware evolution. You will be expected to pivot quickly as project requirements evolve, tackling complex technical hurdles with a sense of urgency and a "fail fast, learn faster" mentality. While your technical chops in hardware design are paramount, your success will be defined by your ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver high-quality engineering solutions under aggressive timelines.

This role demands a high degree of "vocal engineering". We are looking for a candidate who will frequently wear a Program Manager hat, is comfortable speaking up, and can effectively communicate technical risks to non-technical stakeholders, create timelines and milestones, drive those timelines and milestones. This is an opportunity for an engineer who thrives on ownership and wants to blend technical execution with the strategic oversight necessary to scale a product from prototype to market.

This is a hybrid remote role where you'd be required to be onsite in San Jose, CA at least 2 times a week.

What We Value:

  • Impact: You will own significant responsibility and have total ownership over your work. We stay lean and efficient, so your work directly impacts the product we ship every day.
  • Simplicity: Complexity is a waste of time here-we take pride in building things that just work.
  • Hard Work: Forget the glamorous research papers. We prioritize the hard work it takes to achieve real-world clarity and accuracy. You will innovate relentlessly to push the boundaries of what's possible in visual automation.
  • Humility: No task is beneath you. Whether it's high-level architecture or grunt work to fix a bug, we check our egos at the door and get real work done.
  • Ruthless Prioritization: If everything is on fire, nothing is. You will be expected to prioritize ruthlessly, cutting through distractions to focus on the most impactful product improvements.
  • Customer Innovation: We are customer-centric, not customer-pleasing. You won't bend to every client demand; you will let innovation drive the product forward to solve the real problems our users face.
  • Efficiency: Meetings suck. We keep them short and only use them for alignment, giving you your time back to focus on real work.

You Will Be

  • Architecting and integrating system-level electrical designs including computer platforms (x86/SoC), camera modules, sensors, displays, and external peripherals.
  • Owning system power architecture including power distribution, sequencing, power budgeting, and platform thermal considerations.
  • Leading hardware bring-up, debugging, and system validation across electrical, firmware, and software layers.
  • Working closely with computer vision teams to enable robust camera performance and diagnose imaging issues from a hardware perspective.
  • Supporting camera subsystem development including sensor selection, camera board integration, and calibration considerations.
  • Designing and integrating systems using high-speed and low-speed interfaces (USB, PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO).
  • Rapidly prototyping and evaluating new system architectures and electro-mechanical concepts.
  • Drive product development from prototype through EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production.
  • Collaborating with global suppliers and manufacturing partners to deliver scalable production hardware.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, hardware engineering or related experience
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., Altium, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, PADS) and circuit analysis software (e.g. SPICE)
  • Understanding of and demonstrated experience in electrical design principles, circuit analysis, and electronics manufacturing processes
  • Experience in failure analysis modes, including both non-destructive and destructive FA
  • Experience working with complex board designs PCB/FPC/RFPC, design/manufacturing release, test, bringup, and debugging
  • Hands-on EE lab experience, including with: soldering equipment, oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, function generators
  • Ability to read, interpret, and basic coding ability for C/C++ and similar embedded systems languages

  • Experience in shipping consumer electronics over a full NPI/xVT cycle with a focus on HW system design and integration
  • Experience with rapid prototyping to derisk new designs and technologies
  • Experience with IMUs/sensor physical sensor systems with an understanding of calibration methods
  • Experience with vision systems
  • Experience with display technologies (e.g. LCD, OLED)
  • Experience programming in languages like Python or C/C++
  • Strong electrical design fundamentals in analog (e.g. audio, sensor AFE), high speed (e.g. DDR4/5, MIPI, USB3) and power design (e.g. PDN analysis, power architecture)
  • Design experience related to EE-adjacent domains such as: ESD, Reliability, Thermal, Desense/EMI, Signal Integrity
  • Experience in HW design and integration using microcontrollers, SoCs, DDR, flash memory
