ELECTRICAL ENGINEERHackettstown, New Jersey | 100% Onsite | Transformer Business UnitROLE OVERVIEWAstrodyne TDI is seeking a skilled, hands-on Electrical Engineer to join the Transformer Business Unit in Hackettstown, New Jersey. This role leads the design and development of low-, medium-, and high-voltage transformers, inductors, power distribution units, and power-conversion and control products. The successful candidate will combine electrical design expertise, disciplined project execution, customer-focused engineering, and technical leadership to develop reliable products for demanding industrial, medical, military, and aerospace applications.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN- Lead the design and development of low-, medium-, and high-voltage transformers, inductors, power distribution units, and power-conversion and control products.
- Collaborate with Program Management and cross-functional teams, including Sales, Procurement, Mechanical Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Generate product specifications for new research and development efforts and customer requirements.
- Apply Cadence, Creo, Rale, and related tools to model, analyze, and optimize electrical designs.
- Generate complete manufacturing documentation, including schematic diagrams, bills of materials, assembly drawings, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Perform mean time between failures and design failure mode and effects analyses to validate reliability and mitigate design risk.
- Develop and execute design verification test procedures and support root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.
- Interface directly with customers to ensure product performance aligns with application and compliance requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices for design for manufacturability and engineering excellence.
WHAT YOU BRING - REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience designing medium- or high-voltage electrical systems.
- Proven experience in transformer and power-system development.
- Deep understanding of electrical components used in power-conversion and transformer applications.
- Familiarity with agency compliance requirements, including UL, CSA, VDE, and CE.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and project-execution skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Hackettstown, New Jersey.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND- Proficiency with Cadence, Creo, and Rale design tools.
- Familiarity with medium- and high-voltage design practices and manufacturing techniques.
- Experience supporting industrial, medical, aerospace, military, or defense applications.
- Strong technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Experience working directly with customers and managing technical requirements.
- Manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability experience.
SALARY RANGE $100,000-$125,000 annually. Final compensation will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and other business considerations.
