Full Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical / Controls Designer to join Amentum’s Advanced Solutions Group. Candidates may be based at either our Tullahoma, TN or Farmington Hills, MI office.

Our Advanced Solutions Group delivers the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities across the nuclear, automotive, motorsports, defense, and aerospace industries. Our team has supported an impressive range of clients, including Audi, Boeing, BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Honda, General Motors, NASA, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Energy, Volkswagen, and organizations throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Electrical / Controls Designer will work within a multidisciplinary project team to develop custom design solutions that meet unique customer requirements. Projects may include wind tunnel equipment, rocket and jet engine test stands, automotive test cells, and other unique test facilities and systems.

  • Design control cabinets and hardware.
  • Develop wiring diagrams.
  • Create 3D models of conduit and instruments.
  • Support other electrical and controls-related designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop custom solutions that meet customer requirements.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • US citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations.
  • Technical school training certification or one (1) year of college with coursework relevant to drafting or engineering principles, plus a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience; additional relevant education or work experience may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk Electrical preferred).
  • Knowledge of electrical and hardware components, including I/O modules, terminal blocks, control cabinets, and wiring diagrams.

 

Description of Work Environment:

  • Work will mainly be performed in an inside-office environment.
  • Some travel may be required (5-10%).

 

       

Compensation Details:

$75,000 - $90,000
