Scope of PositionThe Senior EHS Engineer leads the implementation and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and industry best practices.
This role provides advanced technical expertise in chemical safety, industrial hygiene, and process safety management (PSM) to support complex research, development, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead implementation and sustainment of site EHS programs, including LOTO, machine guarding, chemical safety, confined space, electrical safety, PPE, and MOC.
- Advance Process Safety Management (PSM) principles across operations.
- Provide technical oversight for process and innovation activities to assess hazards and risks.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in chemical and process safety.
- Lead or facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA).
- Support incident investigations and process safety events.
- Support SDS approvals and laboratory chemical safety requirements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Evaluate equipment, processes, and chemical applications to identify risks and recommend controls.
- Support PSM elements, including PHA, MOC, and PSI.
- Conduct chemical safety assessments, including exposure potential evaluations.
- Support industrial hygiene efforts, including exposure recognition and mitigation.
- Mentor junior staff and technical teams.
- Support audits and maintain compliance readiness.
- Deliver training on chemical and process safety requirements.
- Support change management processes.
- Drive continuous improvement.
- Engage employees and leaders to strengthen safety culture.
Required Skills- Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Safety, Safety Sciences, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in EHS, industrial hygiene, process safety, or industrial operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of PSM, MOC, and risk assessment methods.
- Understanding of machine safeguarding and energy control.
Desired Skills- Strong background in chemical safety and industrial hygiene.
- Experience facilitating PHA.
- Knowledge of GHS and SDS systems.
- Understanding of chemical compatibility and storage.
- Knowledge of NFPA 30 and NFPA 400.
- Experience with EHS systems, such as Gensuite.
- Strong communication skills.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $88,484.00 - $121,666.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
