Full Job Description
EHS Program Manager - Safety

The EHS Program Manager for safety will lead safety efforts for the site by developing, driving and ensuring compliance with safety policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Development

  • Know, research and interpret best practices and applicable regulations through independent research and leveraging external resources.
  • Train, inform, coach and otherwise disperse relevant safety policy and program requirements and adherence plans to plant management, supervisors and hourly personnel.
  • Collaborate and solicit input with relevant partners to ensure designed programs meet the needs of the organization and requirements while also practical and adoptable throughout the site.
  • Develop, review and edit required programs, processes, procedures, protocols, etc. to ensure compliance with best practices and applicable regulations tailored to organizational needs.

  1. Program Implementation & Oversight

  • Create implementation and change management project plans that include timelines for finalizing new or modified programs, obtaining approval and buy-in for proposed changes, communicating in advance of effective dates, and announcing effective.
  • Define and establish how compliance with programs will be monitored and reported.
  • Address any identified noncompliance issues by reporting timely to the appropriate lowest level.
  • Escalate repeated or sensitive noncompliance or near noncompliance as needed.
  • Drive investigation, tracking and oversight of root cause analysis and corrective action plans following audits, inspections, or noncompliance incidents.

  1. Monitor & Report

  • Ensure daily, regular and periodic inspections and audits are scheduled and performed in accordance with the required schedule.
  • Coordinate the gathering and collection of data and reports needed to compile internal and externally required reports.
  • Oversee the preparation of investigatory and required periodic reports.
  • Obtain internal required review, approval and signature for internally and externally required reports.
  • Submit required reports flings.
  • Prepare answers and responses to questions and requests from Nichiha HQ.
  • Proactively identify and communicate strategic EHS risks, metrics and progress to leadership.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental & Health Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in environmental health and safety program management or environmental compliance governance.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge for environmental compliance governance and regulations (e.g. Lock Out / Tag Out, Confined Space, etc.).
  • Skill: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven track record of managing multi-phase environmental projects, compliance implementations, and audit tracking.
  • Ability: Demonstrated ability to build alignment across multi-disciplinary teams and influence internal and external stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge: State of Georgia Workers Compensation regulations.
  • Experience: Environmental compliance work within 24 hour manufacturing operation and OSHA VPP.
