The ECMO Coordinator is a dynamic hybrid role that blends advanced clinical expertise with strategic administrative responsibilities to support and lead the ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) program. This role is designed for a highly skilled clinician with specialized training in all modalities of extracorporeal support, who also demonstrates strong leadership and program management capabilities.
Functioning similarly to an Assistant Nurse Manager, the ECMO Coordinator provides departmental leadership and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional, evidence-based patient care and optimal program performance.
What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical oversight and serve as a subject matter expert in ECMO therapy.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the ECMO program, ensuring compliance with all internal policies, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and other healthcare professionals to support staff education, competency development, and clinical training in ECMO.
- Ensure accurate and timely data collection, reporting, and maintenance of the ELSO (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization) registry.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring outcomes, implementing best practices, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assist in staffing support and coverage planning as needed.
- Act as a liaison between the ECMO team, departmental leadership, and other stakeholders.
What We're Looking For- Education:
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program, respiratory therapy program, or cardiovascular perfusion program.
- CCRN, preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of (2) two years of direct patient care experience in a neonatal, pediatric or adult ICU setting is required.
- Three years Critical Care Nursing, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current RN, CRT/RRT, or CCP license in appropriate state, required.
- ACLS, required.
- BLS, required.
- Advanced Critical Care ECMO, preferred.
