Role DescriptionForm Energy is hiring a Director of Supplier Industrialization Engineering and Quality to build and lead the team responsible for the technical relationship with our supplier base, from first sketch through high-volume production, and for the quality systems that ensure everything that arrives at our factories meets spec. This role reports into our VP, Global Supply Chain and brings together two functions that have to move as one: the engineers who industrialize our components and equipment, and the quality systems and team that hold our suppliers accountable once they are producing.
Form's 85% domestically sourced supply chain was built for a battery chemistry with no existing supplier base, which means the industrialization playbook and the quality systems we need are still being written. You will set that standard: rigorous enough to protect a product with a 100-hour duration promise, and practical enough to work with suppliers who are learning our process alongside us. You will fly high enough to set the strategy and the org, and go deep enough to sit in a root cause review when it matters.
Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:- Lead Form's Supplier Industrialization Engineering and Supplier Quality organization, growing a team of engineers embedded across battery materials, components, and equipment categories.
- Own the end-to-end industrialization journey for direct materials and made-to-spec components, from design-for-manufacturability review and supplier selection through tooling qualification and sustaining production support.
- Build and own Form's supplier quality management system, including PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and SCAR/8D corrective action processes, calibrated for a novel battery chemistry with no legacy supply base to borrow from.
- Set the technical bar for supplier selection and qualification, partnering with Global Supply Managers to ensure our sourcing strategy is backed by suppliers who can deliver on cost, quality, and schedule.
- Own supplier process capability and yield performance, coordinating with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Reliability teams to drive root cause analysis and corrective action when issues surface.
- Develop the roadmap and staffing plan for quality systems aligned to relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) at a scale and stage appropriate to where Form is today and where we are headed.
- Represent supplier technical and quality readiness within the Product Development Process, ensuring every component and supplier is qualified ahead of commercial scale.
- Partner with Supply Chain leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align supplier roadmaps with Form's build plan and deployment targets.
What you'll bring:- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 12+ years of experience in supplier industrialization, quality, or manufacturing engineering, including at least 5 years in a people leadership role building and scaling a team.
- Demonstrated expertise across DFM/DFA, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, and structured root cause methodologies (8D, 5 Whys).
- Experience building quality and industrialization systems from the ground up, ideally in a hardware, energy, or battery environment without an established supplier base to lean on.
- Strong technical fluency to go deep with engineers and suppliers, paired with the executive presence to represent risk, tradeoffs, and strategy to senior leadership.
- Comfort operating across the full arc from early design concept through high-volume production and sustaining support, with the judgment to know which problems need a system and which need a phone call.
