Full Job Description
Director, Retail Marketing Strategy & Operations is responsible for leading retail marketing strategy, enterprise go-to-market planning, marketing operations, and omnichannel campaign execution across the organization. This role serves as the operational hub of the Marketing department, ensuring that all campaigns are strategically planned, cross-functionally aligned, and across retail stores, digital channels, community initiatives, partnerships, and all customer touchpoints.

Reporting to the Vice President of Omnichannel Customer (overseeing all Marketing & Direct-to-Consumer functions), this leader oversees Retail Marketing, Marketing Operations, Go-to-Market Planning, Events & Activations, and promotional campaign management while partnering closely with Creative, Digital Marketing, Ecommerce, Visual Merchandising, Merchandising, CRM, Store Operations, and Executive Leadership.

The ideal candidate is a strategic marketer, operational leader, and exceptional cross-functional collaborator who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Retail marketing leadership: Lead retail marketing strategy and execution across the store fleet, including promotions, local and regional marketing, store communications, new store openings, remodels, and key retail moments, partnering across the organization to drive traffic, sales, conversion, customer engagement & acquisition, and consistent brand execution.
  • Go-to-market strategy: Own the integrated go-to-market process and master marketing calendar, leading campaign planning, prioritization, cross-functional alignment, and launch readiness to ensure cohesive and timely execution across channels and customer touchpoints.
  • Events and activations: Lead the strategy and execution of events, activations, community initiatives (WSS Cares), sponsorships, and local market programs that drive sales, customer acquisition and engagement while strengthening community connectivity, and deliver measurable impact.
  • Marketing operations: Establish scalable processes across workflow and support marketing administration, budget management, and reporting to improve visibility, accountability, efficiency, and speed-to-market.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Serve as a prominent connector across marketing and key business functions, establishing clear timelines, ownership, milestones, and launch-readiness standards.
  • Leadership and team development: Lead and develop a high-performing team, establishing clear priorities and accountability while fostering collaboration, strong execution, continuous improvement, and professional and individual growth.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • 7 -10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience within retail, consumer, or omnichannel environments with experience supporting large multi-location retail organizations.
  • Proven experience leading integrated marketing campaigns across retail and digital channels with a strong background in retail marketing, promotions, and campaign execution.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex marketing initiatives.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen.
  • Familiarity with project management and tracking platforms (i.e. AirTable, Monday.com, Asana).
  • Experience managing marketing budgets and external agency relationships.

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $152,000 - $190,000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
