Director of Landscape Architecture, Licensed- Immediate Placement

Department: Landscape Architecture
Reports To: Executive Leadership
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range:$90,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience, licensure, leadership ability, and business development success.

Position Summary

Luxus is seeking an experienced Director of Landscape Architecture to establish, lead, and grow our Landscape Architecture division. This is a leadership opportunity for a licensed Landscape Architect who is passionate about design, client relationships, team development, and business growth.

The Director will oversee all aspects of the landscape architecture practice, including design excellence, project management, staff leadership, quality control, business development, and strategic planning. This individual will work closely with civil engineers, architects, structural engineers, planners, and executive leadership to deliver integrated design solutions for clients throughout the United States.

The ideal candidate is both a visionary designer and an entrepreneurial leader capable of building a thriving practice within a nationally recognized multidisciplinary firm.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Department Growth
  • Lead and grow STRAND A|E's Landscape Architecture practice.
  • Develop annual business plans, budgets, and growth strategies.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing landscape architecture professionals.
  • Establish departmental standards, workflows, and quality control procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and client-focused culture.

Project Leadership
  • Direct projects from concept through construction administration.
  • Lead design efforts for:
    • Residential communities
    • Amenity centers
    • Parks and recreation facilities
    • Commercial developments
    • Mixed-use developments
    • Streetscapes
    • Hospitality
    • Healthcare campuses
  • Review project documents for technical accuracy and quality.
  • Coordinate with architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, MEP, and planning teams.

Client Relations & Business Development
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Participate in proposal development, interviews, and presentations.
  • Represent STRAND A|E at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and project scopes.

Technical Leadership
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee preparation of:
    • Landscape plans
    • Irrigation plans
    • Planting plans
    • Hardscape design
    • Grading coordination
    • Site furnishings
    • Construction details
    • Specifications
    • Cost estimates
  • Guide sustainable design initiatives, stormwater-sensitive landscapes, native planting strategies, and environmentally responsible site planning.

Financial Management
  • Manage departmental profitability.
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules.
  • Allocate staff resources efficiently.
  • Review contracts, invoices, and project financial performance.
  • Maintain utilization and profitability goals.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Current Landscape Architect license (RLA) in Texas or ability to obtain Texas licensure through reciprocity.
  • 10+ years of progressive professional experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership or department management experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality design work.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience in residential community development.
  • Experience working with national homebuilders and land developers.
  • Knowledge of municipal entitlement and permitting processes.
