Full Job Description
Director of Human Resources

We are hiring our senior-most HR leader. We have a capable team and a modern HRIS we are not using to its potential, and too much of what should run on a system still runs on spreadsheets and email. The person we hire will fix that and build the recruitment engine for a company our size needs.

What you will own

  • Leading the HR team. Lead, structure, and develop the HR team across Arizona and New Mexico. Define what each role owns, set service levels the business can feel, and grow the team's capability through coaching and hands-on development. Build a team the field trusts and calls first and develop the bench behind it.
  • HR technology. Drive adoption of our HRIS, move manual processes into the system, and build manager self-service and workforce reporting leadership uses.
  • Talent acquisition. Build proactive pipelines for the roles we hire hardest, especially CDL drivers, warehouse staff, and merchandisers. Own time to fill, quality of hire, and 90-day retention.
  • Benefits and total rewards. Manage broker and carrier relationships, lead renewal strategy and open enrollment, and maintain competitive pay structures across both states.
  • Compliance and risk. Own Arizona and New Mexico employment law, DOT and FMCSA driver compliance, and partner with Operations on safety, workers' compensation, and return-to-work.
  • Employee relations and development. Counsel department heads and field leaders on performance, discipline, staffing, and accommodation, and build training that creates a path from merchandiser to driver to supervisor and beyond.

What we are looking for

  • 10 or more years of progressive HR experience, including 5 or more leading a function
  • Multi-state experience, ideally Arizona and New Mexico
  • Hands-on HRIS ownership. Comfortable in the system, not dependent on someone else to run it
  • Track record building recruiting pipelines for high-volume hourly roles
  • Preferred: beverage or food distribution, DOT compliance, workers' compensation, SHRM-SCP or SPHR, bilingual English and Spanish

The details

Based in Phoenix, on-site, normal business hours. Hensley operates 24 hours a day, and the systems you build must work for every shift. Regular travel across Arizona and New Mexico. Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus annual bonus and a full benefits package.
