Full Job Description
Position Overview
The Director of Event Services leads the daily operations of the Event Services department and oversees the successful execution of meetings, celebrations, conferences, weddings, and other events. This role works closely with Event Planning, Culinary, Stewarding, Restaurants and Bars, Engineering, Housekeeping, and other hotel departments to deliver seamless events and exceptional guest experiences.

The role includes leadership responsibility for event setup and banquet beverage operations, as well as colleague development, service standards, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

Responsibilities
Guest Experience and Event Execution
  • Lead the setup, service, breakdown, and follow-up for all meetings and events.
  • Review Banquet Event Orders to ensure accurate communication and execution of event details.
  • Coordinate timelines, menus, beverage service, décor, equipment, and staffing with Event Planning and hotel departments.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of event spaces, storage areas, and operational areas to ensure readiness, cleanliness, and compliance with Thompson Dallas and Hyatt standards.
  • Support exceptional guest and meeting planner satisfaction scores.
  • Develop creative ideas for event décor, special events, holiday functions, and other memorable guest experiences.
Colleague Leadership
  • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop captains, servers, bartenders, housepersons, and other Event Services colleagues.
  • Establish clear expectations for service, communication, teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, recognition, and performance management.
  • Promote a positive, supportive, and collaborative work environment.
Operational and Financial Performance
  • Review staffing, scheduling, equipment, linen, beverage, and other resource needs based on event volume and business levels.
  • Coordinate event execution with Culinary, Stewarding, Event Planning, Restaurants and Bars, Engineering, and other departments.
  • Promote compliance with hotel policies, Hyatt standards, health regulations, safety procedures, and security expectations.
  • Support payroll, forecasts, reports, inventories, budgets, point-of-sale procedures, billing, and reconciliation.
  • Monitor labor, beverage, equipment, and other resources to support productivity and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication, service delivery, procedures, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:
  • Previous leadership experience in hotel event services, banquet operations, or a related function within a full-service hotel.
  • Experience in a luxury, boutique, or lifestyle hotel preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Banquet Director, Director of Event Services, or similar leadership role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of banquet service, event setup, beverage operations, and event execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, and develop colleagues.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused.
  • Proficiency in general computer knowledge and the ability to learn hotel and point-of-sale systems.
  • Genuine desire to understand and anticipate the needs of guests and colleagues.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and extended hours based on business needs.
