Position SummarySchwarz Partners is seeking a
Director of Environmental Health & Safety Services to provide strategic EHS leadership across our family of businesses. This role serves as an enterprise resource and trusted advisor to operations leaders, plant leadership teams, and executive leadership across multiple manufacturing and operational environments.
The Director of EHS Services is responsible for helping our businesses continuously improve safety performance, strengthen regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and build sustainable processes that support operational excellence. While the role does not directly manage EHS activities at each location, it serves as a center of expertise, providing guidance, coaching, systems, tools, and support that help our teams become safer and more effective.
This position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and works closely with business leaders across Schwarz Partners, including our corrugated packaging, sheet feeder, display, logistics, recycling, and manufacturing operations.

- Build strong relationships across all businesses and influence without direct authority.
- Help create consistency in EHS standards while recognizing the unique needs of each operating company.
- Support leaders in identifying opportunities to improve safety, compliance, training, and overall operational discipline.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise EHS Leadership- Provide strategic EHS leadership across multiple operating companies.
- Develop and maintain company-wide EHS programs, standards, and best practices.
- Monitor emerging regulatory requirements and communicate impacts to business leadership.
- Promote continuous improvement through effective measurement, reporting, and accountability.
Risk Management & Compliance- Oversee compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory requirements.
- Support facilities during inspections, audits, investigations, and regulatory interactions.
- Partner with business leaders to identify and mitigate operational risks.
- Coordinate responses to significant incidents and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are implemented.
Business Partnership- Serve as a consultant and advisor to business leaders, plant managers, and local EHS professionals.
- Provide guidance on safety strategy, training initiatives, environmental compliance, and risk reduction efforts.
- Help leaders implement practical solutions that improve outcomes without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Share best practices and lessons learned across the organization.
Systems & Process Improvement- Drive consistency in reporting, training, investigations, audits, and corrective action processes.
- Lead initiatives that improve operational discipline and strengthen EHS management systems.
- Utilize data and analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and emerging risks.
- Support the development and implementation of technology and tools that enhance EHS performance.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience.
- Experience supporting multiple facilities, regions, or business units.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulations.
- Manufacturing, packaging, logistics, recycling, paper, or industrial operations experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to influence leaders and drive change across complex organizations.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar professional certification preferred.
