Position Overview

The Ghoman Group is seeking an experienced and highly organized Director of Construction to oversee construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects across the company's hospitality properties. The Director of Construction will be responsible for managing projects from initial planning and budgeting through completion while ensuring quality, safety, timelines, and budgets are maintained.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive construction knowledge, and experience managing contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all construction, renovation, remodeling, and capital improvement projects.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, scopes of work, and timelines.
  • Manage projects from planning and design through construction and final completion.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Review construction plans, drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Solicit and evaluate contractor and vendor proposals.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, change orders, and project terms.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
  • Conduct regular job-site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Identify construction risks, delays, and cost issues and develop corrective solutions.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, permits, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate construction activities with hotel operations to minimize disruption to guests and employees.
  • Prepare regular project updates, financial reports, and progress reports for senior management.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously across different properties.
  • Work closely with ownership and executive leadership on capital planning and long-term property improvement strategies.
  • Review completed work and coordinate inspections, punch lists, and project closeout.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, contracts, invoices, warranties, and records.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive construction management experience, with significant project leadership experience.
  • Experience managing commercial, hospitality, hotel, or large-scale renovation projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, project scheduling, and cost control.
  • Proven experience managing contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, budgets, estimates, and change orders.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
  • Ability to travel to company properties and active project sites as required.
