Job Description:

Berry College invites applications for its inaugural director of the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) degree program. The director will be an experienced academic leader who will collaborate with campus partners to plan, coordinate, and complete efforts to establish the Athletic Training graduate program. Among other responsibilities, the director will lead Berry's efforts to earn accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). We seek a dynamic, strategic, and forward-thinking director who can coordinate efforts to deliver a distinctive program. The target date to matriculate the first class is Fall or Summer 2028.

Berry College's plans for an Athletic Training degree program are strengthened by a partnership with Atrium Health Floyd, a system of health care providers serving Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the health care workforce by creating mentored pathways from graduate education to professional practice, benefiting students while addressing workforce needs and serving the communities we jointly support. This partnership, along with a strong internal collaboration with Berry College Athletics, positions the inaugural director to develop an exceptional program.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background of academic and clinical experience with creative and innovative approaches for developing a regionally competitive AT program. The director's faculty appointment will be commensurate with his or her experience. Candidates with the appropriate credentials will be considered for tenure at the time of appointment. The director will collaborate with other AT faculty to ensure effective organization, administration, fiscal management, educational goals/assessment/analysis, clinical site establishment, and oversight of the didactic and clinical curriculum.

In recent years, Berry College has launched a physician associate program and has expanded its BSN nursing program, both located in the newly opened Morgan Bailey Hall for Health Sciences. The Exercise Science major is one of the college's top undergraduate majors and will complement this new program in close partnership. Additionally, the Cage Athletic Center will be a significant resource for the program. Rome, Georgia, is home to a robust network of hospitals, specialty clinics, and regional medical centers, creating an exceptional environment for experiential learning and clinical education. The combination of Berry's academic excellence, dynamic athletic programs, and Rome's thriving health care landscape provides students with exposure to professional practice, meaningful community engagement, and a strong foundation for health-related careers.

Requirements:

• An earned doctoral degree in a relevant field
• Contemporary expertise in Athletic Training
• Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification
• NPI number with appropriate health care field designation
• Eligible for Georgia state credentialing and in good standing with the state regulatory agency in Georgia
• Previous clinical practice as an athletic trainer
• Previous full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities
• 3 years of experience in post-secondary education, preferably as director, associate director, or clinical coordinator
• Preferred experience with AT curriculum development and implementation
