Director of Accounting | Beverly Hills, CA (Hybrid) | Full-TimeThere is a clear mandate to reduce the monthly close cycle from the current 5-7 days down to 2-3 days and to build proper process and policy infrastructure. This person will oversee the complete throughput of a 4.5-person accounting team (one resource is shared between accounting and operations), owning everything from AP through close. The company operates under a dual structure with a foreign parent company, similar to a U.S. subsidiary of an international entity, and is in the midst of an ERP migration from NetSuite to Microsoft Business Central.
What You'll Do- Lead and manage a team of 4, including a Senior Manager, Senior Analyst, Analyst, and one split operations/accounting resource - overseeing the complete accounting function from AP through Controllership
- Own close calendar management end-to-end - driving process redesign, bottleneck elimination, and automation to reduce the monthly close from 5-7 days to a target of 2-3 days
- Book and oversee revenue entries across a fragmented, manually managed revenue process; coordinate with the client accounting team on royalty-adjacent and payment-related activity that intersects with revenue
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls appropriate for a scaling, acquisition-oriented entertainment business
- Support the ongoing ERP migration from NetSuite to Microsoft Business Central; serve as an accounting function stakeholder in systems decisions and process design
- Partner with the CFO and broader finance team on M&A activity, including purchase price accounting, goodwill impairment analysis, and integration of acquired entities
- Manage dual reporting obligations in coordination with the company's foreign parent, ensuring compliance with IFRS and any applicable U.S. GAAP conversion requirements
- Serve as a key driver of automation and process improvement across a largely manual accounting environment, laying the groundwork for scalable infrastructure as revenue and capital investment grow significantly
Required Qualifications- CPA, or a public/private accounting background (candidates with exclusively public accounting experience will not be considered; private accounting experience plus a CPA is fine; private experience without a CPA may work only with all other relevant experience in place)
- Entertainment or technology industry experience; corporate accounting experience in a complex, multi-entity environment is a meaningful plus
- Demonstrated ability to own and manage the full accounting cycle from AP through close
- Close cycle management expertise with a process- and cadence-driven mindset; demonstrated experience identifying bottlenecks and driving meaningful close improvement
- Strong enough technically to book revenue entries and manage a fragmented revenue process, while also thinking big-picture and strategically about building scalable infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications- M&A experience, including purchase price accounting and goodwill impairment testing
- International accounting / IFRS experience, particularly within a dual-reporting structure involving a foreign parent company
- NetSuite and/or Microsoft Business Central experience
- Familiarity with client accounting or royalty-adjacent functions
