Full Job Description
Job Purpose
The Director Medical Education will lead the strategy, development, and execution of commercial healthcare professional (HCP) education and peer-to-peer engagement to support launch readiness and post-launch execution in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). This individual will translate HCP insights, clinical evidence, and brand priorities into educational programs that address knowledge gaps and support informed, appropriate treatment decisions. The role will build the speaker bureau, educational content, agency partnerships, and operational capabilities required to deliver scalable national, regional, local, and digital programs. Working closely with HCP Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Market Access, Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance, this individual will ensure programs are scientifically accurate, measurable, and appropriate to the product's regulatory status.
Major Accountabilities
Pre-Launch & Launch Readiness: Build the education launch roadmap, including milestones, speaker readiness, content availability, field resources, and program infrastructure. Distinguish permitted pre-approval disease-state education from branded promotional programs activated only following approval and required internal review.
Speaker Bureau Development & Management: Establish and manage the speaker bureau, including needs-based speaker identification, selection, contracting, onboarding, training, and ongoing readiness. Partner with Legal and Compliance on documented selection criteria, fair-market-value compensation, program oversight, and required reporting.
Educational Content & Peer-to-Peer Execution: Lead development of speaker decks, case-based modules, facilitator resources, and live, virtual, and on-demand educational experiences. Deliver national, regional, and local programs and promotional congress symposia, ensuring content is scientifically accurate, appropriately balanced, approved through medical, legal, and regulatory review, and consistent with the approved label where applicable.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Field Enablement: Partner with HCP Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Market Access, and review functions to integrate education into launch plans and HCP engagement. Equip field teams with approved program resources and execution guidance, incorporating feedback while maintaining clear boundaries between promotional activity and non-promotional scientific exchange.
Agency, Operations & Budget Management: Select and manage medical education agencies, speaker program vendors, and technology partners. Own scopes of work, budgets, forecasts, timelines, and delivery standards; establish scalable processes for program requests, approvals, logistics, documentation, and compliant execution.
Measurement & Continuous Optimization: Define launch-readiness milestones and program KPIs, including appropriate audience reach, participation, educational relevance, knowledge change, execution quality, and budget efficiency. Partner with Insights & Analytics to evaluate results and refine content, channel mix, and resource allocation.
