Position Summary

Are you interested in a scientific communications and training opportunity that will allow you to develop innovative opportunities within medical communications and design medical educational materials and tools for a pharmaceutical industry leader? If so, this role may be for you!

As Director, Medical Communications and Scientific Training you will be responsible for leading the development of US Oncology medical and scientific communication plans, tactics, medical educational material, and external communication tools, including digital innovation and customized US scientific medical training in alignment with the US Medical Affairs leads, and Oncology Field Medical Leadership. Your role will work in close partnership and collaboration with internal partners including Global Medical Affairs, the US Medical Matrix Team, the Medical Information Team, and publications.

Responsibilities
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Provides a strong US voice on the Global Integrated Medical Content Team (GIMCT) and is jointly accountable for global scientific content for (asset).

  • Develops, executes and regularly updates the US Medical Integrated Scientific Communication plan (ISCP) and is responsible for the relevancy of the Scientific Narrative to the US market with consideration of evidence generation plans, medicine strategy, and US marketplace to enable pull through to the FMEP by the field.

  • Responsible for ensuring impactful content (all formats) for scientific engagement for both field and internal medical, in alignment with US Medical Plan.

  • In alignment with the medical plan and in collaboration with the US Medical Digital and Tech team, leads the development and delivery of the omni-channel customer experience and associated medical communications across channels.

  • Develops key performance indicators to measure impact and uses data and analytics to optimize the customer experience, in alignment with US Medical Analytics team.

  • Accountable for developing and maintaining the medical curriculum and scientific training plan for internal and field medical teams inclusive of new hires.

  • Supports the USMA (TA) congress plan with responsibility for the overall medical communication plan and associated activities.

  • Applies sound medical governance for all activities in alignment with relevant GSK policies and procedures.

  • For all deliverables, collaborates with medical experts as appropriate and cross-functional internal teams inclusive of Global Medical, Field Medical, Clinical Development, and Commercial.

Work arrangement: This role is hybrid. You will work from home and on-site as needed for team collaboration, stakeholder meetings, and key events. Some travel will be required for meetings and conferences.

Basic Qualifications
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or advanced science degree (Master of Science, MPH).

  • 5+ years' experience within pharmaceutical or medical communications industry.

  • 1+ year of oncology/hematology experience.

  • Medical Affairs experience.

  • Experience developing slide decks and other scientific content.

  • Leading development and implementation of medical education material for external audiences and training material and tools for internal medical teams.

  • Experience with medical education meetings and digital/social media delivery.

  • Leading and working within cross-functional teams.

  • Interpreting, analyzing, and organizing scientific data.

  • Demonstrates effective communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Preferred Qualifications
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • 3+ years of oncology/hematology experience.

  • Experience in scientific communications preferred.

  • Experience in creating digital communication tools and platforms..

  • Experience with strategic and tactical publication planning, development of abstracts, manuscripts.

  • Knowledge of publication guidelines and practices.

  • Ability to work with new technology and teach others.

  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate to diverse audiences.

  • Proven ability to interpret customer needs as well as negotiation and influence skills.

  • Ability to prioritize business needs and flexibility to address them when business appropriate.

  • Ability to cope under pressure with sometimes conflicting priorities.

  • Ability to produce concise and simple summaries of concepts and solutions.

  • Ability to complete complex assignments independently.

  • Demonstrated strategic ability.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to work in a matrix environment with senior management.

  • Ability to build strong business relationships across various departments .
