Job title: Director, Marketing - MPS I and ASMD
About the JobThe Director, Marketing - MPS I and ASMD is the brand strategy lead for Sanofi's ASMD and MPS I disease portfolio, encompassing Xenpozyme® (olipudase alfa) for Acid Sphingomyelinase Deficiency (ASMD) and Aldurazyme® (laronidase) for Mucopolysaccharidosis I (MPS I). This role owns brand strategy, campaign and messaging platform, brand planning process, and core team governance for these two disease areas, and serves as the primary U.S.-to-Global commercial partner for both brands.
The Director directly manages and develops a team of three - a Patient Experience Marketer, an HCP Experience Marketer, and a PharmD Fellow bringing strong people leadership, strategic thinking, and rare disease commercial expertise to the role.
A defining priority of this position is leading the transition of both the ASMD and MPS I brand away from traditional agency-dependent models toward a fully AI/digital marketing platform. This includes building internal digital capabilities, owning content and campaign production digitally, and systematically reducing reliance on external creative and media agencies over time - positioning this portfolio as a model for digital-first, agile brand marketing within Sanofi Rare Disease.
Main ResponsibilitiesBrand Strategy - ASMD & MPS I Portfolio
- Own the U.S. brand strategy for Xenpozyme and Aldurazyme, ensuring each brand maintains compelling, differentiated, and commercially sound strategic positioning
- Develop and maintain the strategic framework for the ASMD and MPS I portfolio, including portfolio prioritization, lifecycle management, and competitive response strategies
- Ensure brand strategies are grounded in data, customer insights, competitive intelligence, and clinical data, addressing the full patient journey
- Anticipate market dynamics and proactively evolve brand positioning to reflect the evolving ASMD and MPS I treatment landscapes
Digital-First Brand Campaign & Messaging
- Own the brand campaign and messaging platform for ASMD and MPS I, ensuring compelling, differentiated, and compliant brand narratives for both HCP and patient audiences
- Lead the development and evolution core messaging, visual identity, and campaign architecture for Xenpozyme and Aldurazyme
- Drive the transition to a no-agency, fully in-house digital marketing model, building internal digital production capabilities, establishing in-house content creation workflows, and architecting a digital-first campaign infrastructure
- Ensure campaign and messaging alignment across all digital channels and tactics, leveraging internal teams to execute with speed and precision
- Champion a culture of digital innovation, testing, and optimization across the ASMD and MPS I brand teams
Brand Plan Leadership
- Lead the annual brand planning process for the ASMD and MPS I portfolio, including situation analysis, strategic imperatives, tactical planning, and resource allocation
- Integrate digital transformation milestones and in-house capability-building objectives into annual brand plans
- Present brand plans to senior leadership, including the Head Rare/xLSD Marketing and cross-functional leadership, with clear strategic rationale and measurable outcomes
- Ensure brand plans reflect the needs of rare disease patients and caregivers, consistent with Sanofi's mission-driven approach to rare diseases
Team Leadership & Development
- Directly manage and develop a team of three direct reports: Patient Experience Marketer, HCP Experience Marketer, and PharmD Fellow
- Set individual goals aligned to brand priorities and the digital transformation agenda; provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and career development support
- Foster a team culture grounded in digital innovation, agility, patient-centricity, and continuous learning
- Serve as a visible and accessible people leader who models Sanofi's values and commitment to rare disease patients
Core Team Governance
- Lead core team governance for the ASMD and MPS I brands, chairing or co-chairing core team meetings and ensuring cross-functional alignment on brand strategy and execution
- Drive accountability for brand plan execution across the core team, tracking milestones and escalating issues as needed
- Ensure governance processes support the pace and agility required by the in-house digital marketing model
Forecasting & KPI Development
- Serve as the commercial forecasting and KPI development partner for the ASMD and MPS I portfolio, working closely with Finance, GTMC, and the Head Rare/xLSD Marketing
- Develop and track brand KPIs, including digital engagement and performance metrics as the marketing platform transitions in-house
- Monitor performance against forecast and provide regular, data-driven updates to leadership
- Use KPI insights to inform brand strategy adjustments and optimize resource allocation
Global Partnership
- Serve as the primary U.S. commercial partner to the Global ASMD and MPS I brand teams, ensuring alignment between U.S. execution and global brand strategy
- Represent the U.S. commercial perspective in global brand forums and contribute to global brand planning processes
- Ensure that U.S. digital-first and in-house marketing innovations are shared with and inform global brand thinking where appropriate
About You- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop direct reports in a fast-paced, complex environment
- Experience managing multiple brands or indications simultaneously preferred
- Strong track record of leading brand planning processes and developing brand campaign strategies
- Proven ability to partner effectively with Global brand teams across geographies and functions
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration, communication, and executive presentation skills

The salary range for this position is:
$178,500.00 - $257,833.33
