Working in Finance as a Finance Business Partnering leader, this role is the primary finance business partner for GTS, the technology engine behind TMX's growth strategy and business units. FBPs empower financially sound planning and decision making throughout the organization. You will do this by spreading financial acumen; telling compelling, data-driven stories to spur action; bridging the knowledge gap between finance and operations; and assisting in the creation of financial planning and analysis's (FP&A's) decision support tools. As an FBP, you will simplify FP&A analysis into easily digestible business logic and take a more technology-guided and teaching-focused approach to business partnering, enabling decision makers to make sound financial decisions more independently. The C-suite and business unit executives will also rely on you as a sought-after thought-partner for strategic decisions and for insights that help achieve performance targets and outcomes. This role has one direct report and a total team size of 2. Responsibilities: 1) Strategic Finance Business Partnering: Global Technology Services (GTS) 3 Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CIO and GTS Leadership Team, providing financial leadership, strategic guidance, and commercial governance across all technology spend 3 Drive cloud financial management (FinOps), developing models to monitor, forecast, and optimize variable cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), SaaS licensing, and emerging GenAI consumption costs 3 Provide rigorous business case development and ROI tracking for major technology investments, cyber-security initiatives, enterprise platform upgrades, and infrastructure refresh cycles 3 Oversee technology capitalization governance (IAS 38 / IFRS), optimizing the financial treatment of internally developed software, R&D, and capital project portfolios 3 Accountable for the consolidated planning (Budgets, Multi-Year Strategic Plans, and Rolling Forecasts) for the GTS organization 3 Partner with Central Corporate FP&A to shape the technology cost allocation framework (Shared Services / CAM), helping GTS defend technology charges and articulate unit-cost value to Business Unit leaders 3 Lead vendor spend analytics and commercial evaluations for major technology, hardware, and software software contract negotiations[cite: 1]. 3 Ensure pristine financial integrity, accounting rigor, and month-end/quarter-end reporting accuracy for all GTS operational and capital ledgers 3 Support deeper understanding of GTS technology cost base, supporting the fast changing technology landscape and further adoption of cloud and AI services 3 Provide in-depth, highly personalized decision support to executive decision makers: initiative modeling/tracking and business case development, continuously and proactively guiding executives to meet and surpass performance goals, and monitoring of leading indicators 3 Deepen nonexecutive decision makers' FP&A acumen to enable independent decision making 3 Member of GTS senior leadership team and key adviser to the CIO 2) Other 3 Collaborate with PMO and Corporate FP&A teams on enterprise portfolio governance 3 Partner with Corporate FP&A, Corporate Strategy and Strategic Finance teams on advancing enterprise analysis and insights generation 3 Partner with Corporate Controller to migrate appropriate portions of accounting work to the central accounting team 3 Champion and participate in knowledge-sharing forums for FBPs and FP&A to exchange lessons learned on how to best educate decision makers in FP&A's thought processes during decision support Must have experience and skills: 3 10+ years of dedicated Technology Finance / FinOps / IT Business Partnering experience within a complex corporate or capital markets environment 3 Strong understanding of software capitalization rules (IFRS/IAS 38), cloud cost economics (OpEx vs. CapEx models), and technology vendor contract structures 3 Proven track record of influencing C-suite technology executives (CIO/CTO) through data-driven financial storytelling 3 CPA designation 3 Strong organizational, analytical and conceptual skills, able to work at a high level and in detail 3 Able to work effectively across organizational lines and promotes an effective team-based environment with employees and management at all levels of the organization 3 Effective and positive management style supporting staff through example, coaching and development 3 Strong technical skills, including spreadsheets (pivot tables, model building, model auditing) and knowledge of financial systems structure 3 GenAI work augmentation 3 Data visualization and data storytelling 3 Strong financial analysis skills, ability to undertake research 3 Results oriented and the ability to work under tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities 3 Customer service orientation 3 Leverage excellent verbal and written communication skills by tailoring messages according to audience 3 Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage large volume of change in an ambiguous, complex environment 3 Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills 3 Relationship builder and collaborator 3 Excellent ability to influence with a collaborative nature and strong communication/interpersonal skills, both written and oral 3 Strong team player and self-starter Nice-to-have experience and skills: 3 FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or Technology Business Management (TBM) framework exposure 3 Software / technology or capital markets 3 CFA designation or MBA 3 Workday Financials / Adaptive Planning / HCM 3 Google Suite of Tools for Work (Sheets, Docs, Slides) This role is hybrid (3-5 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON.
