Job DescriptionDirector, Enterprise Applications & DataThe Director, Enterprise Applications & Data leads the team and outside partners responsible for core business systems, system connections, master data, and cloud data platforms. The role ensures these technologies are reliable, secure, well-documented, and able to support the business.
The scope includes Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SPS Commerce EDI, related enterprise applications, Microsoft Fabric, Master Data Management, and the integrations that move information between the company and its customers, suppliers, logistics providers, and other partners. The company uses a focused, cloud-based technology environment and relies on outside specialists for most development and advanced technical work. This Director must understand the technology well enough to make sound decisions, direct vendors, manage risk, and ensure solutions can be supported after they are delivered.
This is not a software development, detailed data modeling, business intelligence, or program delivery role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the team responsible for Business Central, SPS Commerce EDI, related enterprise applications, master data, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Keep business systems and integrations reliable, secure, compliant, documented, and supportable.
- Set practical priorities and roadmaps for system support, maintenance, upgrades, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the connections that move information between the company and customers, suppliers, co-manufacturers, logistics providers, ecommerce platforms, financial systems, and other partners.
- Direct outside systems integrators, developers, consultants, software vendors, and managed service providers that perform most of the configuration, development, and advanced technical work.
- Give vendors clear business and technical requirements, testing expectations, security requirements, documentation needs, and acceptance criteria.
- Review vendor designs and recommendations to confirm they fit the company's systems, business processes, security requirements, internal controls, and support model.
- Ensure system changes are properly approved, tested, documented, released, and supported.
- Maintain a clear inventory of applications and integrations, including owners, vendors, key connections, data movement, dependencies, and support contacts.
- Oversee Microsoft Fabric and related data platform work performed by internal data engineering resources and outside specialists.
- Lead the Master Data Management function and ensure key data used across Business Central, SPS Commerce, and connected systems is controlled and clearly owned.
- Maintain practical data dictionaries and catalogs, basic data-lineage documentation, and a lightweight data steward program for important shared data.
- Work with business owners to resolve recurring system, integration, and master-data issues and determine whether the answer is a process, configuration, vendor, or data change.
- Monitor material incidents, recurring problems, vendor service, open defects, support performance, and technology risks through resolution.
- Maintain the procedures, configuration records, access records, support guides, and vendor documentation needed for daily support and audit readiness.
- Partner with IT Security, Risk & Compliance to ensure systems, integrations, data platforms, vendors, and changes meet applicable security, privacy, access, audit, and third-party risk requirements.
- Coach team members, set priorities, clarify ownership, and build backup coverage across enterprise applications, ERP, EDI, master data, and data platform support.
- Explain system health, material risks, vendor dependencies, technical decisions, and investment needs in clear business language.
- Coach and lead direct reports, including providing regular feedback, career development, day-to-day guidance, problem-solving support, and performance management.
- Assist with identifying and selecting team members and establishing clear measures of success.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS- 10+ years of experience in enterprise applications, ERP, enterprise information delivery, systems integration, data platforms, or directly related technology work, including team and vendor leadership.
- Experience supporting a cloud-based application environment in a small or mid-sized company.
- Working knowledge of business processes such as finance, order management, supply chain, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, and logistics.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics NAV, or a similar cloud ERP; Business Central experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience building and supporting EDI trading-partner connections; SPS Commerce experience is strongly preferred.
- Practical understanding of how cloud systems connect through EDI, APIs, secure file transfer, middleware, vendor-managed connectors, and MCP.
- Experience managing outside technology partners and holding them accountable for quality, security, documentation, support, and value.
- Enough technical knowledge to review solution designs, integrations, data movement, configuration choices, and vendor recommendations without being the hands-on developer or data modeler.
- Working understanding of cloud data platforms, data pipelines, warehouses or lakehouses, reporting data structures, and Microsoft Fabric or similar services.
- Experience overseeing master data and shared business definitions across an ERP and connected applications.
- Working knowledge of security, access controls, separation of duties, change control, audit evidence, vendor risk, privacy, and technology compliance.
- Ability to turn business needs and operational risks into clear vendor direction, support priorities, and technology recommendations.
- Strong communication, organization, judgment, accountability, and follow-through.
- Experience in consumer products, food and beverage, manufacturing, distribution, ecommerce, or a similar environment is preferred.
- Ability to drive and influence complex decision-making with various stakeholder groups and build consensus.

WORKING CONDITIONS- Position is located in Irvine, CA and requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, subject to change based on business needs.
- May include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

SALARY RANGE$165,000 to $185,000 annually
