Full Job Description
The Director, DevOps and Service Delivery drives teams through software and service interdependencies to maximize efficiency and scalability. Plans and directs the entirety of one or more major Service Delivery and/or DevOps functions. Directs the execution of the strategic and operating plans for areas of responsibility. Has direct or shared accountability for developing and achieving the revenue, profit and operational goals of entity directed. Bridges the gap by recognizing the interdependence of software development and Technology operation. Helps the organization produce software and Technology services more rapidly, with frequent iterations, with as much automation as possible to provide service and support for rapid development and certification.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities
  • Responsible for driving and promoting established best practices
  • Creates and fosters an environment of innovation; removes roadblocks and enables strategic risk taking; advocates and drives change management and adoption of behaviours and practices
  • Influence Leadership and above, on key decisions as it relates to the technology strategy as well as specific department plans
  • Ensure solutions meet enterprise architecture standards
  • Responsible for the delivery of excellence in quality and service levels
  • Builds and fosters relationships with key vendor partners to ensure efficient and quality delivery of assigned portfolio
  • Drives a culture of Associate development
  • Funnels organizational communication and direction to the team and creates clear connections to the goals of the department
  • Advocates for team by moving decisions forward, eliminating barriers and navigating organizational culture
  • Develops talent to support current strategies and future organizational needs
  • Drive business strategies to optimize organizational outcomes


Problem Solving & Analysis
  • Identifies trends of escalated issues or recurring problems and develops improved cross-functional processes to resolve those problems
  • Escalates highly complex strategic or operating issues or requests to gain cooperation Sr Leadership
  • Leverages expert knowledge to anticipate a wide range of future needs and opportunities and facilitates development of complex solutions
  • Uses analytical interpretive/evaluative thinking to understand different situations


Decision Making / Autonomy
  • Escalates and provides recommendation on highly complex issues to Sr Leadership
  • Directs team in making critical decisions that define the direction of the program and impact company strategies; develops team to be more autonomous in decision making
  • Commits existing and new resources to meet needs
  • Leads strategic and operations planning of the area(s) directed
  • Accountable for serving as the authority for critical issue escalation
  • Subject to operating plans and policies set by Sr. Leadership


Communications / Interactions
  • Drives communication and collaboration with Sr Leadership and vendor executives on status, issues and decisions to influence business strategies
  • Translates technology concepts into clear, digestible business appropriate language; creates images, graphics or charts that provide exceptional clarity or add impact to otherwise complex material and package
  • presentations concisely for Sr Leadership
  • Builds and enhances strategic partnerships to drive strategic decision making and advises team on the same
  • Advocates enterprise solution and benefits to Sr Leadership
  • Leads strategic negotiations
