About the team and the role: eBay's Design organization creates seamless, end-to-end experiences that connect millions of buyers and sellers globally. We work across Product, Engineering, and the business to solve complex problems and deliver important customer and business impact.
As Director, Design Program Management, you will serve as a strategic and operational partner to one of six Design GMs, shaping how the organization sets priorities, makes decisions, and delivers against its most meaningful ambitions.
You will lead a small, high-impact Design Program Management team and orchestrate Design's most complex, cross-functional initiatives. More broadly, you will shape the operating system for your Design team-connecting strategy to execution, creating clarity across priorities and investments, and transforming how the organization works at scale.
The ideal leader is a systems thinker and change agent who sees around corners, brings clarity to ambiguity, and turns bold ideas into action.
What you will accomplish:
- Partner with the Design GM and leadership team to translate Design's vision into clear priorities, operating plans, investment choices, and measurable outcomes. Turn complex portfolio information into insights, tradeoffs, and decisions that move the organization forward.
- Lead Design's most complex, cross-functional priorities, aligning Design, Product, Technology, and business teams around shared outcomes, dependencies, risks, and decisions.
- Champion AI and drive transformation, challenging legacy ways of working and introducing simpler, more effective approaches that fundamentally improve how Design plans, collaborates, makes decisions, and delivers.
- Build alignment at the executive level, navigating competing priorities and perspectives to drive decisions, accountability, and action.
- Anticipate what's next, identifying emerging risks, opportunities, and organizational needs before they become blockers.
- Lead and develop a small, high-performing DPM team, establishing the benchmark for critical thinking, execution, and organizational impact.
- Evolve Program Management into a core capability, building practices and systems that develop leverage across the broader Build organization.
What you will bring:- 12+ years experience in Design Program Management, Design Operations, Product Operations, Business Operations or a related subject area within a complex product or technology organization.
- A track record as a trusted partner to senior executives, translating strategy into priorities, decisions, and coordinated action.
- Exceptional systems thinking and operational judgment, with the ability to see across teams and subject areas and solve for the organization, not just the program.
- Demonstrated success leading high-impact, cross-functional programs and transformations in complex, ambiguous environments.
- Strong ability to understand business and apply analytical rigor, with the capacity to assess tradeoffs, manage risk, and help leaders make high-quality decisions.
- Experience building and developing high-performing program management talent while driving impact well beyond the size of your team.
- A forward-looking perspective on how AI, automation, and new ways of working can reshape the effectiveness of creative and product organizations.
