We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join a team of highly skilled Systems, Site Reliability, and DevOps Engineers working on service availability and performance. Our goal is a simple one: ensure maximum availability of Salesforce’s Government Cloud infrastructure through proactive enhancements, adept troubleshooting and ensuring security compliance. Equally important is advanced prompt engineering — the ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate the system context that makes AI outputs reliable, secure, and production-ready.

In this role:

• You are strong in solving Infrastructure related problems with code (with a focus on reusability) and you've mastered building compute capacity, worked on Kubernetes deployments at scale. You will be responsible for leading key projects in design, development, and post-release support of the Salesforce platform and tools that are used by a variety of internal teams to support our government customers.

• Collaborating with internal teams for efficient iterations of automated CI/CD pipelines with the goal of maintaining service owner feature velocity, solving and reproducing issues reported in Production environments.

• Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow by pushing the boundaries of AI development tools to deliver secure, optimized, and high-quality code.

• Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows, driving efficiency and innovation at scale.

• Contribute to building and maintaining the shared system context, an explicit repository of system designs, constraints, and standards that enables AI to operate accurately and reliably.

• Critically evaluate code (Human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance

• You’ll demonstrate a sense of autonomy and vitality for ownership of your areas and proactively take accountability for progress forward.

• You will get a chance to understand how things work with a large-scale production infrastructure within 3rd party cloud service providers.

• You will transform human heavy processes into automated governance solutions.

• Create and maintain detailed documentation.

• You will be interacting with a highly innovative and creative team of developers, open-source committers and architects.

• Researching and finding the right tools for the job, and if they don't exist creating them.

• Requirements:

  • Proven expertise in AWS environments, including infra build and optimization. Skilled in IaaS based TCP/IP networking protocols and associated components like transit gateway (tgw), vpc, security groups, and Route tables.

  • 3+ years deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) & orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE)

  • 3+ years development experience in Infrastructure as code and config management such as Terraform and/or Ansible

  • 3+ years Linux system engineering experience

  • 2+ years developing or managing infrastructure and application security for Highly Sensitive Customer Data & Environments (IAM, CI/CD, PKI)

  • 3+ years experience deploying with a CI orchestration service (Spinnaker, Jenkins)

  • 2+ years working experience scripting/programming language (Shell, Python, Golang)

  • Experience with Log Management and Analytics tools such as Splunk / ELK

  • A demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to engineering. Using AI to move faster, build fluency across the stack, and contribute well beyond your core specialty.

  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor, etc.) in development workflows

  • Advanced prompt engineering skills and the ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate the system context that makes AI outputs reliable, secure, and production-ready.

  • Possesses strong analytical skills and a dedication to ongoing professional development.

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal abilities with proficiency in both written and oral communication.

• Nice to Haves:

  • Background in production service management, including on-call/PagerDuty rotations and the monitoring and alerting of service-specific SLIs and SLOs

  • Experience in any of the monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, etc.

  • Experience developing security & compliance into pipelines such as (OPA, Checkov, Twistlock, Prisma)

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $963,000 - $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $116,000 - $285,800 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
