Job Description & Summary
A career in Deals Risk & Quality will provide you with the opportunity to help protect PwC's reputation and enhance the Firm's profitability by enabling our Deals practice to effectively manage risk and deliver with quality. As part of our One Firm Risk model, members of our team have an extensive track record of managing our overall risk management needs. We focus on supporting the business in delivering quality services to our clients and effective risk management through the engagement life cycle. The Deals practice continues to experience growth, and the Risk and Quality team must respond to those evolving needs.

The Deals Risk and Quality (Deals R&Q) group is seeking an experienced Manager to join our team for a 12-month contract or secondment opportunity, depending on whether the successful candidate is external or internal. The successful candidate will support key Deals R&Q activities, partnering with the Deals practice and Risk and Quality stakeholders to help enable effective risk management, quality delivery, and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

As a Deals Risk & Quality Manager in this 12-month contract opportunity, you will play an important role in supporting the Deals practice to manage risk effectively, deliver with quality, and respond to evolving business needs. Your role will include, but isn't limited to:

  • Support the delivery of Deals R&Q activities within the first line of PwC's risk and quality model, including engagement contracting, quality initiatives, delivery excellence priorities, and practice-facing risk support
  • Provide practical, risk-informed guidance to Deals partners and engagement teams on R&Q processes, compliance requirements, and engagement matters, escalating more complex or higher-risk issues as appropriate
  • Work closely with second-line risk teams and Deals leadership to support client and engagement risk management activities, ensuring alignment with firm policies and One Firm Risk requirements
  • Support enhancements to tools, processes, and guidance used to identify, assess, monitor, and manage risk across the Deals engagement lifecycle
  • Apply strong knowledge of Deals services, engagement letters, contractual terms, and engagement acceptance processes to advise the business and identify practical risk management solutions
  • Analyze reporting data and emerging trends to develop insights for Deals leadership, inform risk priorities, and support continuous improvement across the practice
  • Track and manage issues arising from engagements and R&Q activities, including developing guidance, documentation, and action plans to support resolution and consistency
  • Contribute to Risk and Quality projects, including regulatory initiatives, One Firm Risk priorities, and process improvement projects identified within the Deals R&Q group
  • Develop and deliver Deals R&Q training and communications for staff, partners, and other stakeholders, helping build awareness and strengthen quality behaviors across the practice
  • Prepare and review risk- and quality-related communications, including risk alerts, highlights, guidance materials, and leadership updates
  • Support junior team members where needed, helping build capability within the Deals R&Q team and supporting effective delivery of team priorities

What You'll Bring

Your skills, knowledge, and experiences are what set you apart. Here's what we look for:

  • Strong judgment, investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, manage ambiguity, and provide balanced, practical recommendations
  • Relevant business experience in risk management, quality, advisory, professional services, or a related commercial environment, ideally with exposure to transactional or client-facing work
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders, influence outcomes, and communicate risk considerations clearly and confidently
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and business writing skills, including the ability to prepare clear guidance and leadership-ready materials
  • Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to lead initiatives, manage multiple priorities, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen interest in the PwC Deals practice and its services, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with client-facing teams, partners, and risk management professionals in a collaborative environment
  • Experience coaching, supervising, or supporting the development of others would be considered an asset, along with a collaborative style and commitment to team effectiveness
  • Undergraduate degree (business, commerce, law, or a related field); professional designations such as CPA, CFA, or risk management certifications would be considered an asset
  • PwC Canada is committed to cultivating an inclusive, hybrid work environment. Exact expectations for your team can be discussed with your interviewer
