Full Job Description

At Warner Music Group, our Strategic Finance team serves as the analytical engine that drives both our high-level business strategy and day-to-day operations. By extracting actionable intelligence from core financial data, the team partners seamlessly across Warner Music’s Central Functions, Recorded Music, and Music Publishing to uncover deep business insights. Ultimately, Strategic Finance sits at the forefront of the company, mapping the financial dynamics and emerging trends that are actively shaping the future of the global music industry.

Your role:

As the Data Scientist for Strategic Finance, you will act as the crucial link between our financial strategists and the Technology department. A key part of your mission is collaborating closely with the technology engineers and data scientists who are building our state-of-the-art predictive forecasting platform, ensuring the tool perfectly aligns with business needs. Alongside this, you will deploy modern AI solutions to automate complex financial workflows and transform ambiguous, disparate data into standardized, cohesive datasets—moving the department away from fragile legacy spreadsheets and toward a highly automated, self-service data ecosystem.

Here you’ll get to:

• Partner closely with Technology and Affiliate Finance teams to gather requirements, design, and deploy a robust financial forecasting and planning tool that supports WMG's long-term modeling.
• Spearhead AI and automation initiatives to eliminate manual bottlenecks and streamline workflows across Strategic Finance.
• Enforce data integrity within Strategic Finance by collaborating with data management teams to architect datasets and automate rigorous quality controls.
• Work directly with senior finance collaborators to clarify complex problems and build the right analytical or technology-based approaches using large, dynamic datasets.
• Act as the trusted liaison between Strategic Finance, Technology, and data platform collaborators to ensure all technical solutions perfectly align with business priorities.

About you:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on, practical experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks), Python-based automation, internal app frameworks (Streamlit), BI/reporting tools, workflow automation platforms (Airtable), and AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience helping teams adopt new tools, new processes, and more modern ways of working while staying grounded in business realities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and implement data science projects with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and model development.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks and statistical tools.
• Strong understanding of SQL and working with large datasets.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical collaborators.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with a bias towards action and a proactive approach to finding opportunities and challenges.

We’d love it if you also had:

• Familiarity with the streaming music landscape or other digital media
• Experience in finance transformation and EPM implementation
• Knowledge of accounting concepts and revenue recognition principles
