Responsibilities

PGC (Professionally Generated Content) is one of TikTok's key business directions. By providing professional content, PGC helps meet users' needs for high-quality, trustworthy, and diverse content consumption. The PGC business consists of several core modules, including creator growth strategies, post and content management tools, content distribution strategies, creator monetization strategies, and OGC verticals. As a Data Scientist on the Data team, you will contribute to analyses of user behavior, product features, and the content ecosystem. You will help the team understand user needs, evaluate product and strategy impact, and translate data insights into actionable business recommendations. You will work closely with Product, Operations, Engineering, and Machine Learning Engineering teams, while growing your capabilities in analytics, experimentation, and business judgment through real product challenges. Responsibilities - Participate in data analysis across PGC content and product areas, exploring supply and demand dynamics, user behaviors, and the creator ecosystem to identify testable business questions and growth opportunities. - Support the design and maintenance of core metrics, dashboards, and analytical definitions to improve continuous business tracking and decision-making efficiency. - Partner with Product, Operations, Algorithm, and Engineering teams to support strategy evaluation and optimization across recommendation, distribution, content consumption, and creator growth. - Contribute to A/B test design and result analysis; evaluate product features, strategy changes, and trending operations; support metric anomaly investigation and root-cause analysis. - Validate business hypotheses through analysis, experimentation, and other scientific methods, and deliver clear, actionable findings and recommendations. - Drive analytical workstreams with guidance from other teammates and grow toward independent ownership of product and business domains.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification(s) - Bachelor's degree or above in Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields - 1+ years of experience in data analysis, data science, or relevant internship/full-time roles. - Solid foundation in statistics; understanding of A/B testing, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and common analytical methods - Proficient in SQL; able to use Python or R for data processing, basic modeling, and visualization. - Strong structured thinking, with the ability to break business problems into analyzable and testable data questions. - Good communication skills, with the ability to clearly present analytical process, findings, and recommendations, and a willingness to learn proactively in cross-functional collaboration. Preferred Qualification(s) - Experience or coursework in causal inference is a plus. - Interest in content products, recommendation systems, creator ecosystems, or growth strategies; experience in news, content communities, recommendation, or user growth projects is a plus. - Experience with overseas markets, or cross-region projects is a plus. - Strong curiosity, self-drive, and learning agility; able to iterate on analytical methods and business understanding through feedback.

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $136800 - $216000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
