JOB DESCRIPTION

Join a mission-driven team that helps expand access to Affordable and Workforce housing across communities. You’ll partner with experienced commercial real estate professionals to deliver tailored financing solutions for impactful developments. If you thrive in complex deal execution and client leadership, this role offers visibility, ownership, and meaningful outcomes.

As a Credit Originator (CO) within Community Development Banking (CDB),you will oversee and promote the new loan origination process for CDB clients and leverage deep Affordable and Workforce housing expertise to deliver best-in-class financing solutions. You will evaluate and structure opportunities, lead deal teams through execution, coordinate credit approvals, and ensure compliance with underwriting standards and credit approval requirements. You will work with a diverse client base including developers, investors, owners, operating companies, investment funds, Housing Authorities, and non-profit organizations. You will partner closely with Client Executives, Primary Credit Officers (PCOs), Credit Executives/Risk, Legal, Closers, Construction Management, Portfolio Management, and internal product partners.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end origination and execution across Affordable and Workforce housing transactions

  • Evaluate and structure new loan opportunities, identifying key strengths, risks, and mitigants

  • Serve as an advisor to clients on credit structuring products and solutions; maintain strong client engagement through client/property visits and industry events

  • Coordinate the pitch and credit approval process in conjunction with PCOs and Credit Executives; present proposed transactions to senior management and clearly articulate recommended credit decisions

  • Prepare LOIs, term sheets, and negotiate loan documentation; coordinate the closing process and due diligence review CDB

  • Lead checklist/closing calls; engage counsel as point of contact; negotiate key requirements with other funders and address LIHTC/Bond/soft lender requirements and compliance.

  • Coordinate with Risk, Closing, Construction Management, ASG, ERM, Insurance, and other partners to set the framework for credit analysis, confirm deliverable quality, and drive timely execution.

  • Lead the debt delivery process and 9own the client experience as the primary client contact throughout the credit originations process

  • Lead the internal post-close hand-off call with CRELA to ensure construction/disbursement deal terms are communicated appropriately CDB.

  • Act as primary point of contact for clients and other funders regarding credit-related issues and ongoing requests (e.g., modifications, extensions, amendments, payoffs, collateral releases), coordinating with PCO and Client Executive as applicable CDB.

  • Mentor analysts/associates; endorse work product, serve as escalation point during credit analysis and execution, and support development of credit analysis and structuring skills.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of commercial banking/lending experience, including extensive credit, structuring, closing, and loan documentation experience

  • Commercial Real Estate credit and underwriting experience required

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present well-reasoned recommendations to senior management

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients and internal partners

  • Significant accounting and finance knowledge; strong real estate fundamentals

  • Strong analytical and business writing skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • BA/BBA Degree

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Completion of a major corporate banking credit training program

  • MBA

  • Knowledge of JPMorganChase (or similar bank) policies and procedures
