Full Job Description
The Corporate Development Manager continually facilitates change throughout the organization by working with senior management on projects and acquisitions and gaining a thorough understanding of the challenges or strategic objectives that exist, identifying key stakeholders and gathering pertinent information, developing solutions and presenting them to senior management for approval, and upon approval, ensuring that a plan for implementation is created and executed according to plan.

What you'll do

  • Develop key relationships with leaders and executives across the organization and partner with them on projects that drive innovation, strategy development, thought leadership, and business transformation
  • Develop project plans and identify/assign employees responsible for project tasks. Monitor completion of project milestones and ensure that projects stay on track
  • Facilitate and drive completion of corporate improvement projects by collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Provide project status updates to senior leaders and key stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Gather market, financial, and other applicable information to support business decisions and merger and acquisition targets
  • Use external data sources to gather information for merger and acquisition efforts
  • Lead initiatives to analyze complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources
  • Respond to requests for data and insights from senior leaders to drive collaboration and progress on strategic initiatives
  • Create consistent and concise presentations for leadership teams and other stakeholders; provide analysis and recommendations to assist with strategic decision-making
  • Organize, lead, and manage the flow of meetings. Keep meetings on track and improve effectiveness by setting clear objectives and documenting conclusions.
  • Travel to SMS group locations and customer sites up to 25%


What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field. An MBA is helpful, but not required
  • Engineering experience strongly preferred
  • Three to Six years of related experience in a consulting firm, internal business consulting role, or within a corporate improvement/strategy group
  • The ability to accomplish things through others; the majority of which have no direct reporting relationship to the consultant
  • The ability to allow those involved in the change process to be the ones to take the credit
  • Excellent strategic thinking, understanding of business research and analysis. Strong quantitative and analytic skills
  • Open to new ideas and can see how things fit together in the big picture
  • Prior experience with merger and acquisitions is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
  • Motivated to keep things moving forward. Works well independently to meet deadlines, but also thrives in a team situation
  • Advanced presentation and facilitation skills, create captivating and informative Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
