Full Job Description

Who are you

Your primary focus will be writing high-performing landing pages and lifecycle emails for investment campaigns. This is a role for a writer with strong judgment, curiosity, and range. You should be comfortable writing fast, thinking strategically, working with data, using AI thoughtfully, and improving copy based on what actually converts.

At DealMaker, we help startup and growth-stage companies raise capital. The copy we write is what connects the founder's vision to the funding that makes it real. You'll own the conversion moment wherever it happens. On the landing page after an ad click, in the email that re-engages a cold lead, in the nurture sequence that closes a warm one.

Who You Are

You're a writer first.

You have the sharpness, curiosity, and judgment to turn a complicated investment opportunity into copy people actually want to read.

You raise the bar on the team. You execute confidently, you know what good looks like, and you take initiative to get what you need to make the work successful.

You have range. Direct response landing pages, conversational lifecycle emails, longer-form narrative pages, advertorials. You may not have done all of them, but you know good writing is good writing, and you can move between formats because you understand what makes each one work.

You're fluent with AI tools and use them thoughtfully to improve speed, depth, and quality. You use AI to ideate, pressure-test, find blind spots, and explore options you may not have reached alone. You also know where human judgment is irreplaceable: deciding what's worth keeping, what needs sharpening, and what should be cut.

What You'll Do

Landing Pages & CRO
  • Write landing pages for paid ad traffic, offering pages, and investment campaigns
  • Develop hero copy, section flows, and CTAs grounded in investor psychology and offer specifics
  • Translate dense pitch decks, financials, and offering documents into clear, compelling investor-facing copy
  • Partner with the marketing team on landing page strategy and post-click experience
  • Maintain factual accuracy and compliance across every deliverable

Email & Lifecycle
  • Build email funnels that move investors through consideration and commitment without feeling like a pitch sequence
  • Write welcome series, nurture sequences, re-engagement campaigns, and conversion-focused sends
  • Understand what leads have already seen at the top of funnel and write copy that advances the conversation, not restarts it
  • Map copy to funnel stage so each touchpoint does its specific job

AI-Enabled Workflows
  • Use AI tools to accelerate research, drafting, variation testing, and production
  • Build copy frameworks, prompts, and templates the broader team can adopt
  • Identify where AI improves speed and scale, and where human judgment is irreplaceable

Performance & Iteration
  • Analyze performance metrics (CTR, CVR, conversion rate, email open and click-through rates) to inform copy decisions
  • Design and run A/B tests on landing pages, headlines, hooks, CTAs, and email sequences
  • Iterate based on what's actually converting, not what sounds good in a doc

Collaboration
  • Work closely with the conversions team day-to-day (other writers, CRO, web designers)
  • Partner with creatives, marketers, and account leads across the broader agency on cross-functional work
  • Comfortable with feedback and review cycles. You own your copy and push back when it matters, but you don't get precious about drafts.
What You'll Need

Core Requirements
  • Proven experience writing conversion-focused copy, ideally in direct response, financial publishing, lifecycle, or high-stakes B2C environments
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating copy tied to performance outcomes (conversions, CTR, revenue)
  • Deep understanding of investor psychology. You know that someone writing a $1,000 check to a startup isn't just buying a product. They're making a bet, joining a story, and managing risk in their head in real time. You write to that.
  • Real fluency with AI writing tools. You've built workflows, prompts, and systems that let you ship more without dropping quality. You can articulate where AI accelerates your work and where human judgment is irreplaceable.
  • Strong editorial judgment. You can generate volume with AI but know what's good enough to ship and what needs another pass.
  • Comfort working inside a CRO process. You think in hypotheses and tests, not just drafts.
  • You understand objection handling. You know that leads who don't convert usually have a specific unanswered question, and you write to surface and resolve it, whether that happens on a landing page or in an email.
  • Strong collaborator. You're comfortable when your copy is one input among many. CROs will push back on hypotheses, designers will reshape your layouts, other writers will edit your drafts. You see this as the work, not friction.
  • Clean, specific, factual prose. No "revolutionary technology" or "game-changing opportunity." You reach for the concrete detail that makes a claim land.
  • Ambition and self-direction. You want to see conversion data, propose tests, and own outcomes. Not just deliver drafts and wait for feedback.
  • Passionate about startups, investing, and business

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience writing for investment, fintech, or financial services audiences
  • Experience contributing to copy QA processes, brand voice guides, or workflow documentation
  • Experience building or training teams on AI-driven writing workflows
Why This Role

You'll work on a high volume of real campaigns. Your copy will be read by tens of thousands of investors, and you'll work closely with strategy, paid media, and CRO to ship and test fast. You'll see what converts and what doesn't faster than almost any other writing environment. And you'll be joining a team that takes the craft seriously.

This is a hybrid, NYC based role (3 days in-office in NYC - 30 East 23rd Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10010 ).
