The RoleWe are hiring a Content Lead in Long Beach to own content across every CarParts.com channel, including product detail pages (PDPs) and our WordPress blog. You will also own organic search, covering both traditional SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO), so our expertise shows up in Google results and in AI answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
This is a hands-on role. You will set strategy, write and edit every week, and manage freelancers as needed to scale output. You report to the Chief Marketing Officer.
What You'll DoContent across channels- Own the content strategy and editorial calendar across site, blog, email and SMS, social, and video.
- Set and maintain brand voice and style guidelines; review and approve copy from internal teams and agencies.
- Write and edit high-impact content yourself: category and landing page copy, buying guides, how-to articles, and campaign messaging.
- Partner with design, performance marketing, and CRM so content supports promotions, loyalty, and conversion goals.
Product detail pages (PDPs)- Own the PDP content strategy across our parts catalog: titles, descriptions, bullets, specs, fitment copy, and FAQs.
- Build scalable PDP templates and standards by category, balancing conversion, SEO, and AI answer visibility.
- Partner with merchandising, product data, and feed teams to improve attribute quality and close content gaps at the SKU level.
- Prioritize PDP optimization by revenue and traffic impact, and A/B test content changes to prove lift in conversion and organic revenue.
- Use AI and templated generation to enrich content across millions of SKUs, with QA processes that protect accuracy.
Blog (WordPress)- Own the CarParts.com blog end to end: strategy, publishing cadence, quality, and performance.
- Manage the WordPress environment day to day, including templates, plugins, internal linking, and site hygiene, partnering with engineering on technical changes.
- Refresh, consolidate, or retire underperforming posts to grow traffic and authority.
- Coordinate with partners on blog monetization and on-page commercial modules.
SEO- Own organic search strategy and results across the main site and the blog.
- Run keyword research, content gap analysis, and on-page optimization at scale across a large parts catalog.
- Partner with engineering and product feed teams on technical SEO: crawlability, site speed, structured data, and indexation.
- Track and report rankings, organic traffic, and organic revenue; set targets and hit them.
GEO (generative engine optimization)- Build our strategy for visibility in AI answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews.
- Structure content, schema, and expert signals so AI systems cite CarParts.com as a trusted source.
- Monitor brand and product visibility in AI answers and report share of voice against competitors.
- Test and adopt emerging tools and practices as the space evolves.
Team and partners- Manage freelance writers, editors, and SEO agency partners, including briefs, quality control, and budgets.
- Use AI writing and research tools to increase throughput while protecting accuracy and brand voice.
What You Bring- 7+ years in content marketing and SEO, with at least 3 years owning organic and PDP content strategy for an ecommerce or high-SKU site.
- A track record of measurable organic growth: traffic, rankings, and revenue you can speak to with numbers.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with writing samples that show range from technical how-to content to conversion copy.
- Hands-on WordPress experience, including content management, plugins (for example Yoast or Rank Math), and basic HTML.
- Proficiency with SEO tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, Semrush, and Screaming Frog.
- Working knowledge of GEO: how large language models and AI search surfaces select and cite sources, and how structured data and content format affect visibility.
- Experience managing freelancers or agencies to quality and deadline.
- Ability to work on site in Long Beach, CA.
Nice to Have- Automotive, aftermarket parts, or DIY repair content experience
- Experience with programmatic or templated SEO across large catalogs (year, make, model, part pages).
- Video content and YouTube SEO experience.
- Familiarity with blog ad monetization and its impact on page experience.
- Experience reporting organic performance to executive leadership.
