JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our team as the Treasury Controller within our Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) organization. As a Treasury Controller Managing Director on the CCB Controllers Team, you will lead the Treasury Controller & Financial Analysis team which plays a pivotal role in supporting senior leadership by actively managing key financial elements such as the balance sheet, capital, risk-weighted assets (RWA), liquidity, interest rate risk (IRR) and funds transfer pricing (FTP). 

You will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, communication and analytical skills as well as a deep understanding of Capital and Treasury reporting requirements, data flows and financial data.  You will serve as a key partner to and liaison between the CCB LOB and Corporate Treasury / Chief Investment Office on all RWA, Capital, Liquidity, and FTP/IRR related matters.

The Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) Finance & Business Management team is committed to supporting the strategic and financial objectives of the business, while ensuring a sound control environment and complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Within the CCB Finance & Business Management team, the CCB Controllers are responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and accuracy of the financial statements and/or controls over the transaction life cycle; performing critical reporting and control functions for the organization, including oversight of legal entity, financial and regulatory aspects of business activity. CCB Controllers also provide this expertise to strategic and ongoing product and technology developments and process improvement initiatives.

The role is based in Columbus, OH.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a global team of approximately 30 controller and financial analysis professionals: report directly to the CCB Controller, dotted reporting line to the CCB Treasurer.
  • Identify, seek buy-in, and drive strategic, technology, and transformation initiatives for the CCB Treasury Controller organization including delivering automation / AI-enabled workflows that reduce cycle times improve data quality and strengthen controls in line with the broader Finance Transformation priorities.
  • Deliver accurate and complete Treasury financials and reporting within a SOX-compliant controls framework (including; FR2502a, LCR, FFIEC, FR Y9C, Pillar III). Communicate CCB's perspectives of monthly and quarterly forecasts and actuals financial reports, as well as managing the annual budget, outlook, and stress testing (CCAR/Risk Appetite) process. 
  • Provide oversight and guidance of funding execution, liquidity reporting (daily / monthly / quarterly), RWA forecasting, and capital allocation process across the CCB LOBs.
  • Partner with CCB LOB Controllers, Planning & Analysis Leads, CFO teams, and Core Treasury Analytics to address senior management goals for business results, achieve efficient and complete forecasts, and provide meaningful analysis.
  • Assist with preparation and/or review of various reports or provide supporting information as required by external auditors, regulatory authorities, internal audit and internal control testing including SOX compliance.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years prior experience in the Financial industry or with Capital and / or Treasury reporting
  • Strong leadership, management experience and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to innovate and lead complex initiatives or projects; ability to initiate and drive transformation
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
  • Strong judgment, professional maturity, proactive, has the confidence to challenge the status quo and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Ability to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for capital, liquidity, treasury analytical and reporting requests with proven track record in leading technical discussions with senior management, external regulators and auditors
  • Excellent communication and partnering skills, ability to interact with and forge strong relationships with employees at all tenure levels across a broad range of functions, including at the executive level and work with a team to accomplish common goals

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • BS/BA and CPA or advanced degree in business or financial related field
  • Aptitude for learning enhanced technologies and experience with SQL, Databricks, Tableau or similar data mining tools preferred
  • Experience deploying automation/AI use cases in a controlled environment (data governance, model risk awareness, and auditability)
