Job DetailsYour Opportunity with ECG: Consultant or Senior ConsultantAs a consultant or senior consultant at ECG, you will join the ECG consulting pool, playing an essential role in delivering high-quality consulting engagements across ECG's four divisions: Health System Performance, Medical Group Optimization, Payer Strategy & Contracting, and Strategy & Enterprise Growth.
- Consultants independently manage analytical work streams, contribute to strategic problem-solving, and engage directly with client stakeholders while providing guidance to associates and senior associates.
- Senior consultants lead complex analytical and strategic components, shape client-ready recommendations, oversee the work of junior team members, and contribute to client relationship development and project direction.
While this pool member may support client engagements across all ECG service lines, we are specifically seeking candidates with healthcare IT and EHR experience to support projects involving Epic and other EHR platforms. In these engagements, consultants will:
- Apply their technical expertise to analyze workflows.
- Identify opportunities for system optimization.
- Evaluate product capabilities and roadmaps.
- Develop data-driven recommendations.
- Translate project requirements into system design, configuration, and build activities.
Your Responsibilities May IncludeAnalytical and Strategic Excellence
- Conduct intermediate-to-advanced analyses with accuracy and strong data validation.
- Develop and enhance analytical models, tools, and dashboards to inform client decision-making.
- At the senior level, lead complex analyses, design advanced frameworks, and ensure analytical rigor across project teams.
- Translate analytical outputs into clear, compelling insights that support strategic recommendations.
Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
- Define project problems, key drivers, and analytical approaches with increasing autonomy.
- Conduct scenario analysis and evaluate alternatives, identifying assumptions, risks, and implications.
- Shape logical, evidence-based recommendations aligned with client objectives.
Project Management and Work Stream Leadership
- Independently own and manage work streams-including timelines, risks, dependencies, and deliverable quality.
- Coordinate proactively with project managers and internal teams to resolve challenges.
- At the senior level, lead major portions of projects, guide structured problem-solving, and provide oversight across multiple team members.
- Model effective project management discipline and help build capabilities within the team.
- Translate design decisions and project requirements into Epic configuration and build (e.g., templates, visit types, decision trees, SmartTools, order sets, navigators).
- Perform hands-on build, testing, validation, and change management support through implementation, go-live, and post-live stabilization.
Communication and Deliverable Development
- Lead or own major components of Microsoft PowerPoint decks, Microsoft Excel models, and written deliverables that require minimal revision.
- Present findings confidently to internal stakeholders and support client presentations.
- Tailor communication style to technical and non-technical audiences; at the senior level, present complex analyses directly to client executives.
Client Interaction and Relationship Building
- Engage with client stakeholders to gather information, validate assumptions, and present findings.
- Demonstrate professionalism, preparedness, and credibility in all client interactions.
- At the senior level, serve as a primary point of contact for work stream areas and support long-term client relationship development.
Industry and Strategic Insight
- Conduct research on healthcare trends, payer dynamics, regulatory changes, and competitive landscapes.
- Ensure analyses reflect client context and broader market implications.
- Identify risks, emerging opportunities, and meaningful implications for client strategy.
Team Leadership and Developing Others
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and informal mentorship to analysts and senior analysts.
- At the senior level, offer structured mentoring, oversee the quality of junior team members' work, and share best practices across the team.
Qualifications- Ability to thrive in a hybrid consulting environment and travel as needed
- Prior experience working directly with Epic and maintaining current Epic certifications, including Ambulatory and Cadence, but other core applications will also be considered
- Strong understanding of Epic clinical, access, and revenue cycle applications and integrated workflows
- Working knowledge of Epic change control, testing, and validation practices
Consultant
- Master's degree preferred (business, healthcare administration, public health, analytics, economics, engineering, or related field)
- Typically, 2+ years of professional experience in consulting, healthcare operations, analytics, or related fields (additional experience required if no advanced degree)
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; ability to independently conduct intermediate-level analyses and manage multiple priorities
Senior Consultant
- Master's degree in business or a health-related field preferred
- Typically, 3+ years of experience in healthcare consulting, operations, or analytics (additional experience required without a master's)
- Proven ability to lead complex analyses, present findings to senior audiences, and mentor junior team members
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong judgment, and ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously
Job Locations- Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Diego, or Washington, DC
- Hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in office when not traveling for a client engagement

The estimated base salary range for this job is $110000.00 - $150000.00 annually. It represents a good faith estimate of the range that ECG reasonably expects to pay at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, special skills, and market changes. This job is eligible to participate in ECG's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects ECG's pay-for-performance philosophy. The job is also eligible to participate in ECG's benefit plans, which include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) matching program, unlimited PTO, and other wellness programs.
