What you'll be doing

CIBC's Communications team manages all internal corporate-level communications for employees. As a Consultant, Communications & Public Affairs, you'll play a key role in planning and executing communications that support Global Technology, Data & AI (GTDAI) Team. Within this scope, you will work with the Senior Director, Communications & Public Affairs, and members of the Communications & Public Affairs team, to support and execute communication strategies and plans as well as employee engagement activities that foster a solid understanding of the purpose-driven and growth-minded strategic direction of CIBC.

You will support and coordinate communications activities including writing, editing, event planning, communications guidance, and tactical execution. You will collaborate with partners across GTDAI to plan and deliver employee events, produce multimedia content, and shape communications strategies that drive engagement and alignment.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed
  • Communications Support - Support the development and implementation of integrated communications plans, and provide day-to-day support, including writing and editing employee messages, executive briefings, announcements, town halls, MS Teams Live virtual events, etc. Work with other team members and independently to provide tactical plans in support of communications strategies, and provide advice on such things as appropriate message, communication vehicle, target audience, timing of announcements, distribution, and experiment with new storytelling tools and formats.
  • Communications Planning - Provide suggestions to team members and business partners to help ensure communications are developed and deployed in a timely, effective manner. Provide recommendations, input and support for content on CIBC Today and Viva Engage platforms.
  • Relationship Building - There is extensive collaboration and communication required with colleagues across Communications, as well as a close partnership with team members and senior leaders across CIBC. Successful relationship building will be needed to identify and leverage opportunities to present integrated messaging.
  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment - Staying current with CIBC and client/business strategies/priorities while ensuring accuracy of information through attention to detail as well as sensitivity to context. A strong ability to execute against high volumes, swift pace, and tight deadlines, while managing multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment where at times, information may be limited.

  • You have communications experience. You bring 5+ years of experience in a communications role and can demonstrate strong writing, editing, and proofing skills, with first-rate attention to detail. Experience in financial services and technology is an asset.
