The Project Manager - Construction manages the construction project schedules for multiple construction projects, coordinating information from various stakeholders in the development of schedules, tracking project progress and providing guidance and feedback to the construction organization and company management. Responsibilities
• Communicates and coordinates with Project Managers, Supervisors, Managers, and Operational Field Staff from multiple disciplines on information related to various projects across business areas and geographical markets.
• Ensures accuracy of reported data provided by the construction group to update and analyze project schedules, project budgets and metric tracking instruments.
• Oversees construction schedules for self-performed and subcontracted projects of various scope and size.
• Manages multiple projects and identifies project categories (small medium and large) of low to moderate complexity.
• Advises construction operations of project work load on short term and long term schedules and monitors backlog of construction ready projects providing leadership and support to keep construction crews productive on multiple gas distribution projects.
• Provides technical support, financial oversight, and constructability reviews during the design and estimating process on multiple projects.
• Provides financial oversight during project construction and identifies, clarifies, and documents changes from initial project objectives and scope of work to support the change management process.
• Follows company project management best practices and identifies area for improvement.
• Plans, coordinates and supervises scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of administrative staff in scheduling, accounting, purchasing, etc.
• Updates project status in the company’s ERP system on a regular basis and ensures that project financials are accurately reported and communicates project status on a regular basis to both internal stakeholders.
• Oversees project schedule to ensure deadlines are met; monitors productivity and schedule performance; resolves schedule issues or conflicts in conjunction with construction and makes necessary recommendations to meet project budget and schedule requirements.
• Follows company project management best practices and advises managers on correction actions, recommendations for improvement, or identifies opportunities for increased efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
• BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other technical field.
• Minimum of 8 years of design, estimating or construction project management experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Microsoft office suite programs.
• Multi-tasking ability to prioritize, organize, schedule work.
Preferred Skill Requirements / Qualifications
• Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred but not required.
• PMP certification is preferred.
• Experience in scheduling software, MS project, Primavera, etc.
• Experience in Enterprise Management Software and Resource Management Software including SAP and MRS.
• Previous experience encountering new and varied work situations interacting with others both inside and outside the company (immediate associates, field engineers, vendors, and clients).
