What Your Day Will Look Like:
As a project controls analyst, you will provide day-to-day project controls supporting the collection, maintenance, validation, and reporting of project controls information, including cost, schedule, budget, forecast, funding, risk, and performance data. You will help ensure project leadership has accurate, timely, and reliable information to support effective project management and informed decision-making. Salary $70k-$120k
What You'll Do:
Maintain assigned cost-control workbooks, cost reports, commitment logs, invoice records, accruals, expenditure logs, and related supporting documentation.
· Support quarterly budget and forecast updates, including development and maintenance of estimate-to-complete (ETC) and estimate-at-completion (EAC) inputs.
· Reconcile project controls data against financial system extracts and identify discrepancies for review and resolution.
· Track approved budgets, funding allocations, commitments, actual expenditures, and forecasted cash flow by control account, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) element, contract, or other established reporting structure.
· Prepare cost variance summaries, supporting analyses, and detailed backup for review by the Senior Project Controls Lead.
· Support the identification and documentation of cost trends, variances, and potential impacts to project budgets and forecasts.
· Maintain assigned Primavera P6 schedule data, schedule update logs, calendars, coding structures, layouts, and related schedule control files.
· Support monthly schedule update reviews, including validation of progress, review of activity logic and constraints, identification of open-ended activities, and completion of schedule quality checks.
· Extract, organize, and analyze schedule information for dashboards, reports, look-ahead schedules, milestone tracking, and trend analysis.
· Monitor critical and near-critical paths, key milestones, float movement, progress status, and schedule variances, and escalate material observations to the Senior Project Controls Lead.
· Assist with the review and documentation of schedule narratives, schedule changes, and related change logs.
· Support the identification and reporting of emerging schedule trends and potential impacts to project delivery.
· Compile and validate cost, schedule, risk, and performance data from project teams, contractors, financial systems, and other approved sources.
· Maintain project controls dashboards, logs, trackers, databases, and document control records.
· Prepare recurring monthly and ad hoc reports, charts, dashboards, and presentation materials using approved templates and reporting standards.
· Identify data trends, variances, exceptions, and inconsistencies and prepare concise supporting analyses for review by the Senior Project Controls Lead.
· Perform data quality and completeness checks to confirm that reported information is accurate, traceable, internally consistent, and submitted in accordance with established reporting requirements and deadlines.
· Maintain appropriate documentation and supporting records to facilitate auditability and traceability of reported project controls information.
What You'll Need:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, finance, economics, project management, or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant education and/or experience may be considered.
· Two (2) to five (5) years of relevant experience in project controls, cost control, scheduling, construction or project management, finance, or capital program support.
· Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel, including data validation, formulas, pivot tables, charts, data analysis, and reporting tools.
· Familiarity with cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, schedule updates, progress measurement, and variance analysis.
· Demonstrated ability to organize and analyze complex information, communicate effectively in written and verbal formats, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional project teams.
· Experience supporting transit, rail, infrastructure, construction, or other capital improvement programs is preferred.
