Job DescriptionMortenson is currently seeking a
Lean Engineer I or II to join our Solar Team that will support project teams with applying Mortenson's kaizen-based continuous improvement approach, as well as 5S and Flow Construction, to enhance work safety, streamline processes, and improve project outcomes.
Location: Preference given to those located in the Southwest region (Arizona, California); also open to the following states/regions: Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Florida and the Carolinas.
Travel: 75% to 100%; options include the ability to travel to project sites as required up to the posted requirements OR temporary relocation to a project site and working on a rotation schedule. Locations may vary based on the project. When your project is complete you will be assigned to another project. Mortenson hires for a career.
This position offers opportunities at both levels I and II, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location. RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead kaizen workshops with the project teams
- Help the project teams embrace lean tools such as: GEMBA walks, Daily Management System (DMS), Idea capture system, etc.
- Partner with project leadership and craft workforce to establish trust for lean approaches
- Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Reinforce continuous improvement principles and tools post-workshops
- Support forepersons in observing work and addressing abnormalities
- Encourage crews to brainstorm and implement ongoing improvements
- Support the application of 5S practices with project team and trade partners
- Participate in flow schedule development for relevant work phases
- Apply consistent daily planning and work management with superintendents
- Promote continuous efforts towards one-piece flow and reduce batching practices
QUALIFICATIONS - Prior experience on construction job sites preferred
- Current driver's license
- Solid understanding of continuous improvement principles

Lean Engineer I - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree OR Equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years of work experience
- Internship experience in construction or manufacturing
- The base pay range for this role is $78,800 - $98,500
Lean Engineer II- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree OR Equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years of work experience
- Minimum one year of construction or manufacturing experience
- The base pay range for this role is $81,800 - $110,400
(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
