JOB DESCRIPTION

You are customer focused, passionate about working with and supporting technology companies in the Innovation Economy, enjoy building relationships and bringing in new clients.  A role as a Commercial Banker on our Technology Banking Business Development team is for you.

As a Commercial Banker on the Technology Banking Business Development team, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our presence within the innovation economy and have a history of business development experience and a strong network in the technology/startup ecosystem.

The Technology team is part of J.P. Morgan's Commercial Bank in its Commercial and Specialized Industries group. In this role, you will be a creative and strategic thinker to build community and brand awareness in the localmarket including driving the prospecting strategy, client acquisition, channel partner management, and strong collaboration with the local Bankers in your market.  We work both independently and as part of a dynamic team to deliver the entire firm to our clients. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive top line revenues while maximizing efficiency for the business, with a keen eye towards risk mitigation and compliance
  • Lead the new business origination strategy for the local market in close coordination with local market executives and the venture capital coverage team.
  • Identify top technology companies in the Innovation Economy and connect with their key executives (Founders, CFO, VP of Finance, etc.).
  • Utilize data-driven insights to prioritize prospects and tailor customized outreach strategies.
  • Build a channel partnership pipeline with success and market share tracking, working with the Startup Banking team to build a standardized approach for measurement and evaluation.
  • Leverage COI relationships to enhance outreach efforts and drive new client acquisition.
  • Execute a strategic events strategy focused on building new connections and enhancing the JPMorgan brank in your market
  • Keep a pulse on market trends and emerging technologies, with a focus on ecosystem and network growth in the territory assigned
  • Partner closely with Banking, Credit, Treasury and Service partners, as well as Asset Management, Private Bank and Investment Bank colleagues, to introduce our prospects to our broad product capabilities.
  • Serve as mentor and coach to the banking team and lead the region’s prospecting activities. This may include cross-selling of existing clients when appropriate.
  • Plan and host networking and content-focused events with key centers of influence in the local market.

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • 5+ years of business development, commercial banking, or other relevant sales experience in the technology ecosystem.
  • Proven track record of sourcing and navigating complex sales opportunities, ideally in commercial banking, venture debt, venture capital, or other technology-related services.
  • Ability to build community and brand awareness in a dynamic market.
  • History of planning and executing an events and content strategy.
  • Utilize seasoned judgment to offer comprehensive and customized solutions that best meet potential client needs.
  • Monitor and research market/industry trends and business outcomes to present relevant and insightful solutions to potential clients.
  • FINRA Series 79, 63 and Securities Industry Essentials licenses required or must obtain within 180 days of hire
