We are seeking a Civil Engineer who can play both a technical and functional leadership role by driving design excellence, influencing strategic decisions, and mentoring teams on major projects.
Your RoleAs a Civil Engineer, you will be accountable for the civil discipline on major projects, playing a key role in concept development, technical leadership, and multidisciplinary coordination.
You will contribute to both advanced technical engineering activities and the functional and strategic aspects of project execution.
Key Responsibilities1. Civil Design and Technical Solutions- Design civil infrastructure including roads, roadway geometry, stormwater management systems, underground services, hydraulic structures, and earthworks.
- Develop innovative and optimized project concepts.
- Deliver technical solutions tailored to mining, energy, and infrastructure projects.
2. Technical Leadership and Governance- Assume overall responsibility for the civil discipline on assigned projects.
- Define technical approaches, work methodologies, and design standards.
- Ensure compliance with Hatch procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Review and approve technical deliverables.
3. Multidisciplinary Coordination- Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines, including structural, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and related teams.
- Ensure the integration of civil solutions within complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Work closely with project teams, project managers, and clients.
4. Deliverables Oversight and Project Execution- Lead and contribute to engineering activities.
- Guide the development of models and drawings in collaboration with designers.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and compliance of deliverables.
- Monitor progress and adjust priorities as project needs evolve.
5. Team Leadership and Development- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and learning-focused work environment.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of team capabilities and expertise.
6. Strategic Contribution and Business Development- Participate in the preparation of technical proposals and fee estimates.
- Support the identification of new opportunities and the development of client relationships.
- Provide strategic insight to strengthen Hatch's market position and project solutions.
Your Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Member in good standing of PEGNL.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience (senior-level profile required).
- Strong expertise in stormwater management, roadway geometry, pavement design, and earthworks.
- Solid understanding of interfaces with related engineering disciplines.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, and ProjectWise is considered an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong commitment to quality, safety, and performance.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
