Job Description:

As part of the Engineering and Technology Raptor Avionics Organization at Lockheed Martin Space, this role supports the development of electronic hardware and test systems that ensure mission success for spacecraft and ground systems. Our team develops electronic circuits, test equipment, and hardware used in spacecraft integration and environmental test environments. As a Circuit Design Engineer, you will design, develop, integrate, and sustain electronic circuits and test equipment while working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment. This role includes circuit design, schematic development, hardware integration, and support of hardware test and verification activities.

What will you do as a new hire?

You will design, develop, and sustain electronic circuits and test equipment for complex spacecraft and measurement systems, working with both Common Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom hardware. You will apply circuit design, analysis, layout, and hardware development processes to support reliable system performance. Working under general supervision, you will interpret technical documentation, perform circuit design and analysis, create schematics, support PCB/CCA development, and troubleshoot electronic systems during integration and test activities. You will collaborate closely with systems, software, and test engineers to integrate hardware and verify performance in real hardware environments. This role provides opportunities to take ownership of circuit designs and hardware assemblies, expand technical expertise, and contribute directly to spacecraft test system development.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, analyze, and validate analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for test systems and electronic hardware.
  • Develop schematics, PCB/CCA designs, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Support the design, fabrication, and testing of custom test equipment and electronic assemblies.

  • Participate in design reviews, drawing revisions, redlines, and release processes, taking ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot circuits, assemblies, and test systems during integration and test activities.
  • Perform circuit analysis, component selection, and support trade studies during design development.
  • Communicate technical issues, risks, and status to team members and leadership.
  • Apply Agile practices including stand-ups, planning, and reviews in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative engineering environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Prior professional experience in circuit design or electronics development.
  • Experience related to analog and/or digital circuit design and analysis.
  • Experience with schematic capture and/or circuit simulation tools.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Desired Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum engineering environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and troubleshooting abilities for circuits, assemblies, and test systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical test and measurement equipment (e.g., digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) and hardware test processes.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, electrical interfaces, wiring diagrams, and interconnect drawings.
  • Understanding of PCB/PWB layout, CCA manufacturing, box build, and hardware integration processes.
  • Familiarity with Zuken CR-8000 for schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Familiarity with Zuken E3 for wiring diagrams and harness design.
  • Familiarity with cable and harness design, connector selection, and interconnect documentation.
  • Experience supporting Special Test Equipment (STE) development and CCA testing.
  • Experience with the full hardware design lifecycle (requirements, design, build, integration, test, and release).
