SUMMARY

The BVF Sales Director is responsible for driving new business growth through team leadership, individual and team production, performance management, strategic planning, training and development, and creation and execution of marketing strategies in the factoring industry. The role also includes leading a high-performing sales team, developing talent, and fostering a collaborative and results-oriented sales culture. This individual will focus on strategic relationships for new business development, expanding market share, proactive outreach, acquiring new clients and referral sources, and maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring their team meets or exceeds sales targets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and execute strategic sales and business development plans to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Identifies, cultivates, and acquires new factoring relationships through proactive prospecting, networking, community engagement, referral partner development, and other business development activities.
  • Builds, maintains, and deepens relationships with clients, referral sources, brokers, and industry partners to support client retention, revenue growth, and new business generation.
  • Leads, coaches, develops, and manages a high-performing sales team by establishing clear performance expectations, providing ongoing feedback and training, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results.
  • Recruits, mentors, and retains top sales talent while creating an environment that promotes employee engagement, professional growth, and high performance.
  • Establishes sales goals and performance metrics; monitors individual and team results; analyzes pipeline activity; and implements strategies to improve productivity, conversion rates, and overall sales effectiveness.
  • Coaches team members in business development techniques, relationship management, proposal development, negotiation strategies, and effective sales execution.
  • Maintains expertise in factoring products, underwriting practices, market conditions, industry trends, competitor offerings, and economic developments to identify opportunities and maintain a competitive market position.
  • Collaborates with credit, underwriting, and other internal partners to evaluate prospective clients, structure transactions, manage risk, and ensure timely and effective delivery of financing solutions.
  • Serves as a liaison between prospective clients and internal departments by preparing, presenting, negotiating, and facilitating financing proposals and related documentation.
  • Monitors sales forecasts, pipeline activity, revenue performance, and business development results; prepare reports and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Utilizes sales data, market intelligence, and business metrics to identify trends, optimize processes, improve operational efficiency, and support long-term growth initiatives.
  • Partners with executive leadership to identify strategic growth opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other business expansion initiatives.
  • Performs financial analysis, credit evaluation, and risk assessment activities as necessary to support sound business decisions and prudent portfolio growth.
  • Represents the organization at industry, community, and business events to enhance market visibility, strengthen professional networks, and generate new business opportunities.
  • Complies with, and stays abreast of, all policies and procedures, federal and state laws applicable to the job.
  • Provide, present, and promote the Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has supervisory responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training associates, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding & disciplining associates, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, master's degree a plus; and/or 15+ years of experience in business development, sales within the factoring, financial services, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and interpret and draw bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER & SOFTWARE SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to utilize customer relationship management (CRM) systems, sales tracking tools, and reporting platforms to manage pipeline activity, monitor performance metrics, and support business development efforts.
