Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is:
  • A consultant at heart - listens, asks insightful questions, structures ambiguous problems, challenges assumptions, and helps leaders make better decisions.
  • Business-minded - begins with the problem and desired outcome rather than the technology request.
  • An order shaper - helps determine what should be done rather than simply translating what was requested.
  • Root-cause oriented - asks why until the real problem is understood and avoids fixing symptoms.
  • Process-minded - looks beyond systems to understand how process, data, roles, policy, and technology work together to produce an outcome.
  • Commercially minded - understands that transformation requires choices and can balance value, cost, speed, risk, and organizational capacity.
  • Value-focused - applies an 80/20 mindset and concentrates effort where it will make the greatest difference.
  • Agile and pragmatic - favors iterative progress and does not let perfect get in the way of great.
  • Technology fluent - understands the possibilities and limitations of modern technology without defaulting to a technology-first answer.
