Overview

Adastra is seeking a highly analytical Business Systems Analyst to bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This role is responsible for gathering and translating requirements, analyzing data, and supporting the delivery of system enhancements and business initiatives.

The successful candidate will leverage SQL, Python, and data analysis skills to identify insights, improve processes, validate data quality, and support informed decision-making. Working closely with business stakeholders, developers, QA teams, and product owners, this individual will play a key role in delivering scalable solutions that drive operational efficiency and business value.

Primary Location: Toronto, ON

Work Model: Hybrid 3-Days Onsite

Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

Compensation Range: $85,000 - $95,000 CAD

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gather, document, and analyze business requirements from stakeholders across departments
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories for development teams
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate data across systems
  • Use Python for data analysis, automation, and building scripts/tools to support business processes
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks
  • Create process flow diagrams, workflows, and system documentation
  • Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) - write test cases, execute tests, and log defects
  • Collaborate with developers, QA, and product owners throughout the SDLC
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements
  • Build reports and dashboards to support business decision-making
  • Act as liaison between business units and IT/development teams

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2-4+ years of experience as a Business/Systems Analyst
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (complex queries, joins, stored procedures, performance tuning)
  • Working knowledge of Python for data analysis and scripting (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)
  • Experience with requirements gathering and documentation (BRDs, FRDs, user stories)
  • Familiarity with data visualization/BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
  • Understanding of relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
