Full Job Description
Job description
The role
You will own new business and account growth for Verdot across the West Coast. This is a hunter role with real technical depth: you will open doors at process development, MSAT, engineering and procurement teams, get Verdot invited to bid on new capacity projects, and close capital equipment deals.
You will be one of the first field hires in a newly built North American team. You will help shape how we sell here, not just follow a playbook. You will not start from zero: during your first year you will take over an established set of West Coast accounts.
Location: West Coast US 30% travel
Territory: California, Pacific Northwest, Mountain West
Reports to: VP Business Development, North America
Type: Full-time
What you will do
Build and work a territory plan across biopharma, emerging biotech and CDMO sites, with clear account maps of key contacts in PD, MSAT, engineering and sourcing.
Focus on the segments where Verdot has a real right to win: mRNA, AAV/viral vector, ADC, CDMOs and mid-size biopharma.
Take over West Coast accounts and opportunities during your first year, working alongside the current account lead from your first month.
Win new business through prospecting, site visits, lunch-and-learns, demos and regional events.
Lead the full sales cycle on capital equipment: discovery, technical scoping, budgetary and formal quotes, negotiation and close.
Build relationships with engineering firms to get Verdot onto capacity build-out projects early.
Work with Verdot's application, engineering and project teams in France to scope solutions and support FATs, change orders and project handover.
Keep HubSpot current on every account, contact, meeting and deal.
Bring back market intelligence: new facility builds, competitor activity and customer feedback.
Represent Verdot at trade shows and regional bioprocess meetings.
What we offer
First year on-target earnings of $175,000-$230,000
Health, dental, vision and 401(k)
A real marketing engine behind you: lead generation, digital, content and a strong presence at key conferences (BPI, ISPE, ASGCT, mRNA/CGT shows, DCAT). You will not be selling alone.
Strategic partnerships with Asahi Kasei and Saint-Gobain
Live FlexiPro demos at our hosted demo site, with dedicated applications support
The backing of our new Excellence Center in France
A chance to build a US business from the ground up, backed by 75 years of engineering excellence
Profile
What you bring
5+ years of B2B sales or business development in bioprocessing, life-science capital equipment or a closely related field.
Strongly preferred: a track record of closing capital equipment deals in the $100K-$2M+ range with multi-stakeholder buying committees.
Working knowledge of downstream processing: chromatography, TFF, column packing, single-use vs. stainless.
An existing network among West Coast biopharma, biotech and CDMO process teams.
A self-starter who can both build new pipeline and take over and grow established accounts, and who works well in a small, fast-moving team.
Comfort working with colleagues across time zones (France HQ, US team).
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, engineering or business; a technical degree is a plus.
Willingness to travel roughly 50% within the territory, plus occasional trips to France.
