The Opportunity Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst (Catalyst) is looking for a Budget and Financial Reporting Specialist to join our team and play an important role in supporting the financial health and success of Catalyst's programs.
In this role, you'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to oversee budgets, analyze financial information, support program reporting, and ensure funding requirements are met accurately and on time. You'll bring your financial expertise to a variety of programs and projects, helping teams understand their financial position, make informed decisions, and stay on track with approved budgets.

Key responsibilities:- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial reporting requirements for funded programs are accurate, complete, and delivered on time, including quarterly and year-end reporting, revenue accounting, and in-kind reporting.
- Coordinate reporting timelines by developing calendars and workback schedules, and working with program teams to keep deliverables on track.
- Analyze financial and statistical data to identify trends, assess performance, understand variances, and support informed financial and program decisions.
- Monitor budgets and cost centre activities, investigate discrepancies and variances, and provide reconciliation, accounting analysis, and recommendations for resolution.
- Support the development and maintenance of systems and processes used to track program budgets, expenditures, and financial information.
- Ensure financial records and documentation are accurate, organized, and audit-ready, including maintaining data integrity and version control.
- Provide guidance and support to internal clients by responding to budget-related questions and helping teams navigate financial systems, processes, and policies.
- Provide training and support on financial systems, policies, and processes to help program teams manage their budgets effectively.

- Completion of a post-secondary degree in finance, accounting, business management or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience with fund/project accounting including preparing year-end working papers and complex annual statements, budgeting and performing variance analysis and reporting.
- Experience with restricted and accrual accounting methods.
- Strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Knowledge of accounting and auditing practices for not-for-profit organizations.
- Experience using financial and other software applications to track, analyze, and report financial information.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a client- and stakeholder-focused approach to providing financial and budget advice.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- The ability to manage multiple, and sometimes conflicting, deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
