Full Job Description
Role Descriptions & Responsibilities

BIOVIA is looking for a Senior Product manager to own the product strategy and roadmap for our virtual companion's laboratory science competency and skills. BIOVIA currently supports the organizations that depend on scientific innovation to differentiate themselves, including leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, consumer goods and advanced materials companies.

One of our virtual companions, MARIE, was developed by BIOVIA for deep science and is now generally available on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This role owns MARIE's Laboratory Science competency: the agentic Skills that carry out laboratory work, covering areas including experiment authoring and analysis, materials and inventory management, procedure execution support, and results interpretation. The competency spans every vertical BIOVIA serves, including biosciences, small molecule and synthetic chemistry, formulation, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, and advanced materials, and applies across research, development and QA/QC laboratories.

Some more of your responsibilities include the following:
• Identify and prioritize the laboratory use cases worth automating, working directly with scientists, lab managers and QA stakeholders across research, development and QA/QC environments.
• Decompose laboratory workflows into agent-executable tasks, specifying the inputs, tools, decision points, failure modes and human checkpoints for each.
• Define how agents interact with the ONE Lab data model on 3DEXPERIENCE, and determine when laboratory data held in legacy on-premise systems needs to be brought into scope.
• Contribute to and implement the evaluation framework for agent quality in MARIE: how correctness is judged, how first-pass acceptance is measured, and what evidence is required before a Skill reaches production.
• Own the autonomy roadmap, determining where human-in-the-loop remains necessary, where supervised autonomy is defensible, and what audit trail, traceability and validation controls each step demands.
• Partner with the Scientific AI and Lab organizations, whose priorities this role must reconcile, and with the product managers responsible for other MARIE competencies.
• Evaluate potential partnerships with laboratory automation and robotics providers where agentic software workflows could extend to physical execution.
• Represent the product externally and internally through customer engagements, webinars, conference presentations and live demonstrations

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline relevant to laboratory work, but Masters or PHD in a scientific discipline is preferred.

o Equivalent depth acquired through professional experience in laboratory operations or laboratory informatics will be considered in place of a scientific degree
• 5+ years in product management or a comparable product-ownership role in enterprise software.
• Direct working knowledge of laboratory informatics systems (LIMS, ELN, LES, instrument data capture or inventory management) as a product manager, implementer, or practitioner.
• Practical, hands-on knowledge of LLM-based and agentic systems: task planning and decomposition, tool calling and multi-agent orchestration, retrieval grounding, evaluation methods, common failure modes and their detection, and the drivers of cost, latency and reliability.
• Proficiency using AI tools in day-to-day product management work, including research and synthesis, requirement and specification drafting, data analysis and content production.
• Demonstrated ability to translate a complex scientific or operational workflow into a specification an engineering team can build against.
• Working understanding of regulated laboratory environments: GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, audit trails, electronic signatures and data integrity expectations.
• Demonstrated experience presenting to technical and executive audiences, including live product demonstration.
• Strong written communication.

Preferred
• Hands-on laboratory experience, in research, development or QA/QC.
• Experience defining evaluation or benchmarking frameworks for AI systems.
• Ability to build working prototypes using AI development tools such as Cursor, sufficient to test an idea before committing engineering effort to it.
• Familiarity with laboratory data standards and instrument integration (Allotrope, AnIML, SiLA).
• Exposure to computer systems validation in regulated environments.
• Experience assessing or managing technology partnerships.
• Familiarity with laboratory automation, scheduling or robotics.
• Familiarity with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform or the BIOVIA portfolio.
