Full Job Description
As Bid Director with Ledcor’s Building Construction team, you will lead the strategy and execution of major Design-Build and Alternative Procurement pursuits, taking ownership of opportunities from pursuit strategy through contract award and transition to project execution.

You will lead large, multidisciplinary pursuit teams and establish the strategy that positions Ledcor to win complex, high-value projects. Working closely with senior leadership and functional experts across business development, operations, estimating, design, commercial, legal, risk, and finance, you will drive key pursuit decisions related to competitive positioning, commercial strategy, risk, resourcing, and overall bid direction.

This is a senior leadership role for an experienced pursuit professional who can bring together diverse stakeholders, challenge assumptions, navigate complex procurement environments, and maintain clear strategic direction throughout lengthy and highly competitive pursuits.

Join our team in Toronto and play a key leadership role in shaping Ledcor’s pursuit strategy and securing the next generation of major projects for our Building Construction business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full pursuit lifecycle for major and complex opportunities, from opportunity assessment and pursuit planning through RFQ/RFP, contract award, and transition to project delivery.
  • Develop and drive winning pursuit strategies aligned with Ledcor’s business objectives, client priorities, market conditions, and competitive positioning.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to large, multidisciplinary pursuit teams across operations, estimating, design, commercial, legal, risk, finance, and proposals.
  • Partner with senior and executive leadership on key pursuit decisions, including opportunity selection, commercial strategy, risk, resourcing, and competitive positioning.
  • Lead the development of commercial and pricing strategies in partnership with estimating and commercial teams, balancing competitiveness, project risk, and business objectives.
  • Identify and manage key pursuit risks and opportunities, leading risk reviews and ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are incorporated into the bid.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client objectives, procurement drivers, and evaluation criteria to shape Ledcor’s value proposition and differentiate our approach.
  • Lead pursuit strategy sessions, executive reviews, client presentations, interviews, and other key engagements, providing clear direction and recommendations throughout the pursuit.
  • Establish pursuit governance, schedules, accountabilities, and overall proposal strategy, delegating coordination activities while maintaining accountability for the quality, compliance, and competitiveness of the submission.
  • Lead the transition from pursuit to project execution following award and capture lessons learned, market intelligence, and competitive insights to strengthen future pursuits.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction, preconstruction, major project pursuits, bid management, or a related discipline, with a demonstrated track record of leading complex, high-value pursuits through to award.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major Design-Build, P3, Progressive Design-Build, Design-Build-Finance, or other Alternative Procurement pursuits.
  • Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary pursuit teams and influence senior stakeholders across operations, estimating, design, commercial, legal, finance, and risk.
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with experience influencing pricing strategy, contract strategy, risk allocation, and major pursuit decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute competitive pursuit strategies based on client priorities, market intelligence, and competitive positioning.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement models, commercial terms, and project risk.
  • Experience working directly with clients and senior stakeholders through complex procurement processes, presentations, interviews, and negotiations.
  • Experience with government, public-sector, or defence procurement environments is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of the Western Canadian construction market, including clients, consultants, partners, competitors, and procurement trends, is an asset.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with strong executive presence and the ability to provide direction across multidisciplinary teams.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based position in Toronto, ON
  • Periodic travel may be required to support client meetings, partner engagements, pursuit activities, and project opportunities.
