Full Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented, strategic team player to join as a Benefits Manager on Asana's People Team. In this role, you will design and scale foundational benefits programs that drive consistency, well-being, and equity across our North America organization. You will own key offerings, including health & welfare benefits, wellness, and retirement, ensuring every Asana has access to comprehensive, competitive support. This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you'll achieve
  • Partner with the Head of Global Benefits to own the strategy, design, and execution of high-impact benefits programs across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Shape Benefits Strategy: Design and continuously improve the overall experience, communications, and delivery of benefits programs, maximizing employee well-being and reducing friction for all Asanas.
  • Manage Vendor and Broker Relationships: Own relationships with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement programs, leading renewals and ongoing performance management.
  • Serve as the Benefits Systems Expert: Establish yourself as the administrator for our benefits administration platform, advising People Ops and cross-functional teams on strategy for enrollment, data integrity, governance, reporting, and process optimization.
  • Build Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with stakeholders in People Operations, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and Talent Acquisition to integrate benefits into the end-to-end employee lifecycle and lead cross-functional change initiatives.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain deep working knowledge of relevant regulations (including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and state-specific leave laws), ensuring programs and plan documents remain compliant.
  • Maximize Program Outcomes: Design measurable frameworks for benefits utilization, employee satisfaction, and cost management using data to inform future strategy and investment.
  • Apply an AI-first approach to streamline benefits administration and case management, creating personalized employee communications.

About you
  • Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
  • 6+ years of experience in benefits program management, with a track record of owning and scaling health & welfare, and retirement programs.
  • Expertise as a benefits administration system administrator or power user, with demonstrated ability to advise on enrollment strategy, data integrity, and reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of NAMER benefits compliance requirements (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and state paid leave laws); familiarity with Canadian benefits programs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with total rewards philosophy and inclusive, equity-informed benefits design.
  • Clear, compelling communicator, both verbally and in writing, capable of synthesizing complex plan information and guiding employees with empathy.
  • Approach problem-solving with a strong sense of urgency, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional time management skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional change and influencing peer and senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Comfort designing measurable success metrics and using data to drive decision-making.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $164,000 - $186,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
