Overview

As a Battery Engineer with a specialization in power electronics, you will development and advance battery systems from concept through production. You should possess broad knowledge of rechargeable batteries, battery management systems, cell and pack design, battery safety standards, and large-scale manufacturing processes.

You should have expertise in at least one specific domain and experience in both the R&D and production phase of batteries deployed in military, commercial, or consumer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute and collaborate in all phases of the battery development lifecycle with a team of peers who are experts in their fields.
  • Translate customer and application requirements into manufacturable battery solutions optimized for performance, reliability, safety, and cost.
  • Develop, refine, and document process design, work instructions, and quality and safety controls for all fabrication steps.
  • Utilize data-driven decision making to design and optimize solutions.
  • Collaborate directly with manufacturing partners, material vendors, and engineering contractors.
  • Support customer engagements, technical proposals, and application documentation in collaboration with business development teams.
  • Contribute to patent applications, regulatory filings, and technical publications.
  • Train and mentor new team members as the company scales.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering or science related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Li-ion battery design, test and manufacture.
  • Experience creating wire diagrams, electrical schematics, cable drawings and system diagrams.
  • Experience with design and fabrication of custom PCBs and/or ASICs.
  • Understanding of battery safety regulations.
  • Strong technical writing and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced R&D-to-production environment.
  • Exposure to SBIR/government program technical reporting.
  • Familiarity with government compliance requirements, including CMMC and FedRAMP.
