Job OverviewAre you energized by building relationships, evaluating emerging companies, and turning promising opportunities into partnerships that create measurable value? Do you thrive in complex environments where progress depends on knowing how to connect the right people, navigate competing priorities, and maintain momentum across a large portfolio of opportunities?
The AVP of Strategic Partners, within our Technology Consulting & Partnerships team, will serve as a key role in helping identify, evaluate, structure, onboard, and grow third-party partnerships that improve the advisor and client experience and advance the firm's strategic priorities.
This role requires an exceptional relationship builder and highly organized portfolio leader who can manage a large and continuously evolving pipeline of prospective partners through multiple stages of evaluation, diligence, contracting, approval, onboarding, launch, and ongoing relationship management. The successful candidate must be equally effective with external executives and internal stakeholders, possessing the judgment, persistence, and organizational awareness needed to advance complex opportunities across a large enterprise.
This is not simply a project-management or vendor-management position. The AVP will be expected to own meaningful business outcomes, translate strategy into execution, and create alignment among stakeholders who may have different objectives, processes, and priorities.
Responsibilities:Set direction, and manage a list of firms seeking approval for advisor use and/or acceptance to the LPL Vendor Affinity Program:
- Manage a large portfolio of prospective and expanding partners across evaluation, due diligence, contracting, approval, onboarding, and launch
- Maintain clear visibility into each opportunity's stage, strategic rationale, owner, next action, dependencies, risks, and target milestones
- Prioritize opportunities based on advisor value, strategic alignment, commercial potential, scalability, effort, and risk
- Keep opportunities moving, identify barriers early, and determine when opportunities should advance, pause, or stop
- Provide leadership with concise, decision-ready views of pipeline health, priorities, risks, and emerging opportunities
Build and grow strategic relationships:
- Build a strong internal network and become highly adept at determining who needs to be involved, how decisions get made, and how to move work forward. Coordinate effectively across Product, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Procurement, Finance, Marketing, Operations, and other stakeholders involved in partnership decisions
- Lead complex initiatives where progress depends on influence rather than direct authority.
- Anticipate organizational dependencies and resolve issues before they create unnecessary delays. Bring recommendations and proposed solutions when escalating issues rather than simply identifying problems
- Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with prospective partners, existing partners, technology companies, and senior external executives
- Identify opportunities to deepen relationships through new capabilities, integrations, adoption initiatives, or expanded use cases
Apply strategic and commercial judgment:
- Evaluate prospective partnerships through the lens of advisor value, enterprise strategy, market opportunity, economics, scalability, implementation effort, and risk
- Develop business cases and executive recommendations that enable clear decisions
- Participate meaningfully in pricing, revenue-sharing, contracting, and other commercial discussions
- Recognize opportunities to improve mutually beneficial outcomes while maintaining strong partner relationships
- Monitor market developments and identify emerging partnership opportunities
