This role leads field execution for copper, fiber, wireless, and AV installations; ensures compliance with technical standards and installation best practices; and serves as the primary point of coordination for site readiness, implementation, quality control, and turnover. The Installation Lead is expected to deliver network and AV projects safely, on schedule, and in accordance with customer requirements, engineering documentation, and applicable industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day installation activities for structured cabling, copper and fiber distribution, LAN/WLAN infrastructure, equipment racks, and audiovisual systems across assigned sites.
  • Coordinate site readiness, material staging, logistics, workforce assignments, and installation sequencing for network and AV deployments.
  • Supervise installers and technicians performing cable routing, dressing, termination, labeling, rack buildout, equipment mounting, and device installation.
  • Oversee installation and integration of switches, wireless components, patch panels, racks, displays, speakers, microphones, cameras, DSPs, control systems, and other related infrastructure.
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, implementation packages, signal flow diagrams, labeling conventions, and applicable network and AV installation standards.
  • Support system configuration, troubleshooting, cable testing, functional verification, and acceptance activities to ensure installed systems meet operational and performance requirements.
  • Maintain red-line drawings, cable records, labeling documentation, equipment inventories, and as-built updates throughout the installation lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, customer representatives, and facility stakeholders to resolve field issues and maintain alignment with the technical baseline.
  • Monitor schedule, installation quality, punch-list items, and field risks, and provide clear status reporting to project leadership.
  • Support customer training preparation, system turnover, and final acceptance documentation for network and AV systems.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 15 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading installation teams for structured cabling, network infrastructure, low-voltage systems, or audiovisual system deployments.
  • Strong working knowledge of copper and fiber cabling methods, rack layout, cable management, terminations, labeling, testing, and system integration.
  • Experience installing and supporting LAN/WLAN infrastructure and AV components such as displays, speakers, microphones, cameras, DSPs, and control systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, rack elevations, cable schedules, signal flow diagrams, and technical implementation documentation.
  • Experience coordinating multiple field workstreams while maintaining schedule, safety, and quality standards in active site environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and team leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with installation tools, cable test equipment, labeling processes, and configuration documentation practices.
  • Ability to work on-site, travel as required, and lift or move equipment consistent with network and AV installation duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BICSI Installer 2 certification for copper and optical fiber, or equivalent experience aligned with structured cabling standards.
  • AVIXA CTS-I, AQAV CQT, or comparable audiovisual installation certifications.
  • Vendor-specific training or certifications for network or AV platforms such as Cisco, Aruba, Crestron, AMX, Extron, or similar systems.
  • Experience supporting government, military, campus, or enterprise modernization projects involving network and AV infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/TIA structured cabling standards, AVIXA guidance, and installation best practices for integrated technology environments.
Work Environment

This position is primarily performed in active installation environments such as academic buildings, technical facilities, offices, classrooms, studios, and other operational sites where network and audiovisual systems are being deployed. The Installation Lead must be comfortable working in construction-adjacent conditions, coordinating across multiple trades, and maintaining professionalism in customer-facing environments. Work may involve climbing ladders, working above ceilings and in equipment rooms, handling tools and test equipment, and adhering to strict safety and security procedures.

Success Factors
  • Executes network and AV installations with a high level of quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Drives safe, organized, and efficient field operations across structured cabling, rack integration, and endpoint deployment.
  • Builds trust with customers, teammates, and project stakeholders through clear communication and dependable follow-through.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and supports smooth testing, turnover, and acceptance of installed systems.
  • Adapts effectively to changing site conditions, technical requirements, and mission priorities.
